3 SECTION A - BASIC FEES i. Registration Fee To register your child at Handcross Park School a registration fee of 110 is applicable. This is non-refundable. Parents of overseas pupils are required to pay a registration fee of 350 (which will cover the cost of a Tier IV application if required). This is non-refundable. ii. Confirmation and Extras Deposit Once offered a place cannot be secured until the School is in receipt of the signed acceptance form and cleared deposit. The deposit amount for Nursery, Pre-Prep School and Prep School is 1,250. Parents of weekly and full boarders are required to pay an additional deposit of 750. Parents of boarders who reside overseas and parents of overseas boarding pupils are required to pay a deposit of 10,000. Please note that a term s fees (less deposits held) will be immediately payable if, for any reason, the acceptance of a place is cancelled less than a term before entry or if the pupil does not join the School after a place has been accepted. Once accepted, deposits are retained to cover the cost of any extras that are typically charged in arrears. They are held over from term to term until the pupil leaves the School. Any balance due will be refunded as a credit (without interest) against the final payment of extras or other sums due to the School. Please note, deposits are not a contribution towards the first, final or any term s tuition or boarding fees. 4 Flexi boarding for two weekday nights per week is available for pupils in years 5 & 6 at 660 per term. Flexi boarding arrangements are based on two consecutive nights (Monday Friday), committing to a term and booked in advance. Due to limited spaces the School will operate on a first come first served basis and this can be continued the following term if there is a suitable bed available Please note that if a child has been boarding in the School for the Autumn and Spring terms, the Summer term fee which will apply to that child irrespective of whether he or she boards or transfers to a day pupil will be the same boarding fee as for the prior two terms. Similarly, if a child moves from full to weekly boarding, the full boarding charge would still apply for the summer term. SECTION B OPTIONAL AND/OR PUPIL SPECIFIC SERVICES There are a number of services that a pupil may utilise during his or her time at Handcross Park School. i. Music Lessons Charges for additional music lessons are typically billed by the peripatetic music teacher directly to the pupil s family. The charge for music lessons are per lesson in the Prep School and per lesson in the Pre-Prep. ii. After School Extra Activities Due to the various types of activities on offer and the variety of fees for different activity lessons these are not included here but are available from the Prep Activities Coordinator; Mr Andy Davis or the Pre Prep Administrator on iii. Minibus Charges The minibus service is available to all pupils aged from five upwards. The local minibus charge is 2.75 per journey. The London bus route is charged at 16 per journey. Parents are reminded that half a term s notice is required for withdrawal from the school bus service. Please contact the Prep School Secretary, Ms Jane Bussey on for route information and any queries. iv. Learning Support Pupils requiring learning support will be charged per session. This is charged in arrears. v. EAL (English as an Additional Language) Support from the EAL unit is charged at per session. This is charged in arrears. 3

5 vi. School Shop Uniform and sports kit can be purchased from the School Shop. Should a parent have any queries concerning shop charges please contact Mrs Gaynor Beeby via the School Office on vii. Insurance The School is pleased to advise that Pupil Accident Insurance and Dental Cover, through the School s Insurance Brokers, is included within the termly fee and there is no additional premium. This personal accident scheme covers pupils who may suffer permanent disability from any accident, both during term time and the following holiday period (when the cover is worldwide). Full details of the cover provided are available from Miss Emma Vowels on The School s insurance brokers offer Personal Effects Insurance Cover and School Fees Protection Cover. Full details are also available on request from the Finance Office on a. Personal Effects Insurance Pupils personal belongings are not insured by the School against loss or damage. These items are often very valuable and it is advisable that parents take out insurance cover. We recommend that parents consider taking out additional cover if high value items such as musical instruments are to be brought into the School. Parents are asked to ensure that all their children s possessions are clearly marked and identifiable. b. School Fees Protection This is a scheme which enables parents to recover the value of any school fees paid whilst a pupil is absent for medical reasons for a period in the excess of five days subject to status. SECTION C - OTHER PAYMENT CHARGES i. Payments not honoured Any cheque returned to the School unpaid or any Direct Debit payment not honoured will attract an administrative charge of 30. This will be added to the next bill. ii. Interest on late payment Any late payment will receive a late payment charge of 1.5% per month applied on a daily basis for the number of days payment is late together with any charges for the costs of administering and recovering any late payments. 4

6 SECTION D - EXTRAS AND OTHER CHARGES During the course of an academic year, pupils may incur extra charges. Depending upon the nature of these items they are either charged in advance when known about by the accounts team prior to the preterm bill run or in arrears. i. Charges in advance These include items such as minibus charges. In addition, a deposit or advance contribution may be required when a pupil participates in field trips or sports events etc. ii. Charges in arrears These include items such as after school activities, educational trips and School Shop purchases. It may also include any emergency expenditure on clothing or medical treatment that is deemed necessary. Emergency items can only be authorised by the Headmaster and Boarding Houseparents. SECTION E PAYMENT Payment of fees must be made in full before the first day of the term for which they are due, unless the fee payer has joined the Direct Debit scheme and has joined in sufficient time to enable the first deduction to have been taken by direct debit for that term. The School appreciates that parents may occasionally have difficulty in meeting fee payments. If financial difficulties are foreseen, parents are encouraged to contact the Bursar, Ms Fionna Thomson as soon as possible. This allows the School to review the situation in a timely manner preventing unnecessary distress. Methods of Payment i. Cash Please note that we are not able to accept any payment in cash over the sum of 350. ii. Cheque Please make cheques payable to Newells School Trust Ltd. Please write the child s full name on the reverse of the cheque and return with the remittance slip on the bottom of the invoice. Post-dated cheques will not be accepted. iii. Credit or Debit Card Most credit and debit cards are accepted including Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and Delta. 5

7 iv. Payment by Bank Transfer To assist us with tracing your payment, when making a bank transfer, please use the school fees account number detailed on your invoice as the Transaction Reference or Payment Details. Bank: HSBC Plc Sort code: Account number: Branch: Haywards Heath Account name: Newells School Trust Ltd Bank Address: South Road IBAN: GB 13 HBUK Haywards Heath BIC: HBUK GB 4194 V RH16 4LU v. Direct Debit Parents can pay by way of Direct Debit through a School administered scheme which many parents find an easier method for paying. Scheme 1: Direct Debits are taken in 3 monthly instalments for each term, collected on or after the 1st day of each month as follows. Term 1st Instalment 2nd Instalment 3rd Instalment Autumn September October November Spring January February March Summer May June July Each instalment represents a third of the term s bill and supplemental charges will be collected with the first payment each term. Scheme 2: Direct debits are taken in three payments in each academic year, such payments being due on the first day of the first month of each term (in accordance with the instalment schedule in the above table). The Direct Debit system will be free of charge for parents. To join either scheme please complete and return the direct debit mandate available from the Finance Office. In order to join the scheme for Autumn Term, please return the form before Friday 10 th August Please note that we reserve the right to remove parents from the Direct Debit scheme if they do not keep up with payments. The full balance outstanding will then be due with immediate effect. vi. Payment in Advance (Annual Payers) Discounts are not currently offered for payment in advance. 6
