Senir Cmmunity Crrectins Officer (A&C Grade 7) - SCCO The rle f a Senir Cmmunity Crrectins Officer incrprates the duties identified within the Cmmunity Crrectins Officer rle, with the additin f: Manage a caselad f mre cmplex ffenders Perfrm a quality assurance rle in relatin ffender management, fr example, by cntributing t lcal implementatin f ffender management Standards, KPIs, and plicy; and invlvement in peer reviews against peratinal standards Prvide prfessinal mentring and supprt t Cmmunity Crrectins Officers Review and apprve case plans and assessments Vet reprts prepared fr curt and releasing authrities.
Prvide guidance, n the jb training and prfessinal develpment fr Cmmunity Crrectins Officers (with the exceptin f first year trainee fficers), with respnsibility fr the satisfactry perfrmance f fficers under their prfessinal supervisin. This includes ensuring that CCOs under their supervisin prvide ffenders n their case lad with hurs f interventin and ffender related wrk equivalent t the hurs allcated under the wrklad mdel, and cmply with Crrective Services NSW plicy and standards; Undertake caselad reviews with Cmmunity Crrectins Officers; Assist Cmmunity Crrectins Officers t plan and manage their wrklad, including hme visits; Cntribute t, and assist the Cmmunity Crrectins Office/Parle Unit t achieve its mnthly Key Perfrmance Indicatrs. Perfrm the c-facilitatin rle in relatin t ffender prgrams NB: Any wrk invlving the review f case plans / assessments / reprts is t be undertaken within the cntext f peer review, mentring, prfessinal develpment purpses, r where a Unit Leader is temprarily absent. Such wrk must be taken int accunt with respect t the SCCO s ther wrklad demands. The SCCO is nt t be utilised in a management / supervisr rle. Unit Leaders The wrklad f the Unit Leader may include the requirement t carry a case lad f up t 140 hurs in a 4 week perid (which may be adjusted accrding t the needs f the ffice and/r the number f Cmmunity Crrectins Officers and Senir Cmmunity Crrectins Officers supervised at any time). This case lad is t be cmprised f mre cmplex cases which may include high risk ffenders managed at the Cmmunity Crrectins Office. The Unit Leader s case lad may be adjusted t facilitate this; Supervise a small team f first year trainee fficers (and/r Cmmunity Crrectins Officers/and Senir Cmmunity Crrectins Officers) including reviewing and apprving all wrk, including case plans, assessments and reprts; undertake reviews f the case plans, assessments and reprts f Senir Cmmunity Crrectins Officers and peer reviews f the wrk f ther Unit Leaders within their ffice and/r within their cluster; Prvide guidance, n the jb training and prfessinal develpment fr first year trainee fficers, including assessment f first year trainee fficers, with respnsibility fr the satisfactry perfrmance f fficers under their prfessinal supervisin. Assist first year trainee fficers and Senir Cmmunity Crrectins Officers t plan and manage their wrklad, including hme visits; Perfrm a quality assurance rle in relatin t the fficers supervised and ther Unit Leaders within the ffice and cluster as required, which may include undertaking interffice audits; Undertake the allcatin f cases n a 6 mnthly rtatinal basis in Cmmunity Crrectins Offices. Their case lad will be adjusted accrdingly; Cntribute t, and assist the Cmmunity Crrectins Office/Parle Unit t achieve its mnthly Key Perfrmance Indicatrs. PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS Cmmunity Crrectins Officer (A&C Grade 5 Year 1 t A&C Grade 6 Year 2) Nrmal incremental prgressin criteria apply, including satisfactry cnduct and services. Senir Cmmunity Crrectins Officer (A&C Grade 7) Senir Cmmunity Crrectins Officers (SCCOs) fulfil an imprtant rle and staff seeking prgressin t SCCO will need t demnstrate diverse knwledge and a depth f experience in the management f ffenders in the cmmunity. This can be demnstrated by yur nminatin f varius rles yu have perfrmed. Yu must be able t prvide details f a manager r supervisr wh can cnfirm satisfactry perfrmance in these rles. PRE-REQUISITES 1. Staff must have cmpleted a minimum f 12 mnths service at A&C Grade 6 Year 2 rate (r abve) as a Cmmunity Crrectins Officer 2. Cnfirmed satisfactry perfrmance as a generalist Cmmunity Crrectins Officer (including interstate r internatinal experience) Nte that Cmmunity Crrectins Officer (including generalist) may incrprate wrk undertaken in the rles f Cmpliance and Mnitring Officer r Prbatin and Parle Officer. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: In additin t the abve pre-requisites, staff must als demnstrate experience in a cmbinatin f the fllwing rles. Perfrmance in these rles can be accumulated ver separate time perids t meet the minimum 12 / 6 mnth requirement, but must have ccurred within the last five years. EVIDENCE: Applicants are required t submit evidence supprting their claim that they have successfully cmpleted these rles. Evidence shuld include examples f the utcmes achieved in each rle and the verall length f time in each rle. Evidence must nt exceed ne page per placement/experience. Applicants must cmplete the attached Submissin frm where they will nminate the details f a verifying supervisr fr each f their nminated rles. If yur verifying manager/supervisr is n lnger able t be cntacted, please nte that yu may be required t prvide the cntact details f an alternative verifying manager/supervisr. Rural and remte lcatins Rural and remte lcatins are defined as: Any lcatin within the area defined as rural / remte by clause 39.2 f the Crwn Emplyees (Public Service Cnditins f Emplyment) Award 2009; r defined as Outer reginal, remte, r very remte within the Australian Statistical Gegraphical Classificatin (ASGC) Remteness Area Crrespndences, 2011. These lcatins include: Armidale, Bega, Burke, Brken Hill, Casin, Cma, Cnamble, Frbes, Glen Innes, Inverell, Griffith, Gunnedah, Mree, Tumut, Wellingtn, and Yung. Officers may als prvide evidence f wrking in a rural and remte lcatin where they have serviced a cmmunity which is within the abve definitins. Fr example, prvisin f services t Deniliquin, Mama r Finley frm Albury. Alternately, sme ffices may nt be lcated within a rural / remte area, but may prvide regular services t such (eg, via a reprting centre). In these cases, staff shuld demnstrate that they have relevant experience prviding service t the rural / remte area. Page 5 f 5
