Kiln main burner replaced with high momentum burner After modification, kiln can achieve the capacity up to 2,850 TPD with free CaO of clinker less than 1%. 5) Cooler: Added fixed inlet at the cooler starting portion with new cooler air fans in order to get maximum heat recuperation. Job carried out : Modifications to achieve guarantee capacity 4,000 TPD 1) New LVT top cyclones NSCI, Bahau Plant Plant upgrading to 4000 TPD The LVT top cyclones will improve the efficiency and decrease the pressure drop of the preheater. 2) Enlarge inlet area to 2 nd stage cyclone The inlet area to the 2 nd stage is increased by lifting the roof in order to decrease the inlet velocity and thereby the pressure loss.

3) LVT design dispersion box for all stages New effective dispersion boxes are required to disperse the material properly when the velocity on cyclone riser pipes increases. This will ensure the effective heat transfer between hot gas and raw meal. 4) Extension of calciner NSCI, Bahau Plant Plant upgrading to 4000 TPD To increase the retention time and better burning of fuel in the calciner 5) New inlet and triangular cut in bottom stage cyclone The inlet modified according to the calciner modification. The new inlet will have a positive effect on the coating tendencies in this inlet. A triangular cut is made to the bottom stage cyclone in order to improve the cyclone efficiency and decrease the specific heat consumption.

6) Water spray in down comer The water spray system is designed to reduce the temperature of the gases leaving the preheater by 50 C, which will increase the ID-fan capacity. This water spray system will work as a secondary cooling tower as well. 7) New ID-fan and motor NSCI, Bahau Plant Plant upgrading to 4000 TPD It is necessary to install a new ID-fan with a higher flow and pressure rating than the existing. 8) New filter fan and motor parallel to existing ESP Fan A new parallel filter fan installed parallel to existing ESP fan. This will facilitate to exhaust the additional kiln gases after the upgrading to 4000 tpd.

Job carried out : Cemex, Thailand 2 Kilns upgrading to 1200 TPD New top stage cyclones Top cyclones preheater will be replaced to the new LVT cyclones (without refractory) for improving the efficiency. It can be improved by installing a cylindrical part at the body of the cyclone. LVT suggest modifying the complete inlet duct section to the top stage cyclones to LVT new design, to avoid the present ducting pinch point at the cyclone inlets, where caking on tendency on the roof has been observed. This will also reduce the pressure drop over the top cyclone stage. The new cylindrical cyclone part will also call for installation of an extra downcomer part.

This will lead to a bit higher pressure drop over the new LVT top stage cyclones. The cyclones are foreseen installed with 114 mm castable

Hanil Cement (Danyang plant ), Korea Kiln No.5upgrading to 4800 TPD 2) Extension of the ILC calciner with New TAD inlet and new LVT mixing chamber Hanil is firing approx. 20 % of waste fuel to the calciner. This leads to operational problems and CO formation in the calciner. Hanil possesses at the same time a strong desire to increase the waste firing to 30 %.

Hanil Cement (Danyang plant ), Korea Kiln No.5upgrading to 4800 TPD Extension of the ILC calciner LVT therefore suggests extending the existing calciner with a new square duct. The result in the largest possible extension of the calciner gas retention time, which is crucial for the satisfying completion of the combustion of the waste fuel fired in the calciner. The calciner a gas retention time of approx. 4.6 seconds is achieved (at 4800 TPD)

The reason is that the existing swirl chamber is much too large (low gas velocity) and do not facilitate a proper mixing of the calciner fuel (waste) and the combustion air. The result is the observed CO problems out of the calciner. With the new LVT mixing chamber we improve the start conditions for the combustion of the calciner fuel (waste), and we are convinced that it shall be possible to increase the %-waste fired from the existing 20 % even at the increased clinker production level to 4800 TPD.

The installation of LVT cyclone improved the efficiency of the collection efficiency, decrease the pressure drop of the preheater Modified inlet and new outlet of six cyclones at 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th stage to decrease the inlet velocity and thereby the pressure loss. This will ensure the effective heat transfer between hot gas and raw meal. Installed the new calciner placed inline on top of the kiln. The retention time in the calciner will be about 2.5 s. The installation of the calciner made the retention time and better burning of fuel in the calciner.

The kiln shortened corresponding to the new lay out of the pre heater, and a new kiln inlet seal was installed A new ID fan with 15% reserve on the flow and 30% reserve on the pressure was installed. The gas conditioning tower was installed. Hot gases from the ID fan was cooled in a conditioning tower to app. 200 dg. C, and at the location of the existing ESP a new bag filter was installed. The existing housing of the ESP can be re-used. For the de-dusting a new fan has been included. To make the cooler more efficient a new fixed inlet was installed with a surface area of approximately 6 sqm. together with a new cooling fan and the renovation of Grate 1.
