Over the last decade, the Annual Cnference has becme the premier gathering fr financial educatin prfessinals t shwcase their success stries, netwrk with peers, develp rganizatinal partnerships and hear frm speakers willing t share their tips, techniques, and experiences fr the benefit f ur prfessin. As we enter ur tenth year, we are making a number f imprvements t the Annual Cnference t adapt t the changing needs f ur industry. This year s cnference will prvide real-wrld applicatins giving financial educatrs the tls necessary t address the challenges f the financial educatin field and shape the future f the financial educatin In additin t ur general sessins, the Annual Cnference will again ffer three cncurrent sessin tracks that will allw attendees t custmize their prfessinal develpment experience. This year s cncurrent sessin tracks will fcus n behaviral ecnmics, prgram design and develpment, and utcme assessment. There will be mre sessins, with mre presentatin time, and mre netwrking pprtunities than ever befre. I am especially pleased t annunce ur Keynte Speaker, Ms. Jane Rney, appinted in April 2014 as Canada s first Financial Literacy Leader. Her experience with natinal financial literacy educatin prgrams gives her valuable insights int the pprtunities and challenges f financial educatin, and her participatin in internatinal financial educatin effrts prvides a glbal cntext t natinal, reginal and lcal effrts t imprve financial literacy. The Institute fr Financial Literacy invites yu t submit a prpsal t speak at the 10th Annual Cnference n Financial Educatin. The Cnference will take place April 1-3, 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Htel in San Antni, Texas. Speaker presentatins will begin at 9am n Wednesday, April 1 and will cntinue thrugh nn n Friday, April 3. Backgrund The Annual Cnference n Financial Educatin prmtes the effective delivery f cnsumer financial educatin and cunseling by hsting a natinal event fr prfessinals and vlunteers prviding these services. The Annual Cnference ffers financial educatin and cunseling prfessinals frm a variety f industries the pprtunity t share infrmatin, best practices, recent develpments, and prven strategies, tips and techniques t achieve intended utcmes. Each year the cnference is attended by 200 prfessinals representing credit unins, banks, K-12 educatin, higher educatin, scial services, debt management, gvernment, military and ther industries. While the majrity f attendees are frm the United States, the Annual Cnference has a grwing internatinal presence. Internatinal attendees in years past have represented Canada, Mexic, the United Kingdm, Turkey, and the Philippines. The Annual Cnference is structured t prvide bth general sessins and cncurrent sessin tracks s that attendees may custmize their learning experience. General sessins are tpics f interest t mst attendees and supprt the main cnference theme, while cncurrent sessins are f interest t a narrwer grup f attendees and supprt bth the main cnference theme as well as the cncurrent track theme. The Institute fr Financial Literacy will be accepting speaker prpsals in each f the fllwing fcus areas as well as fr the general sessin. Prpsals are due n later than Friday, Octber24, 2014. Incmplete r late prpsals will nt be cnsidered. Speakers will be ntified f the status f their prpsal(s) in early Nvember.

\ Prpsal Requirements Individuals wishing t present at the Annual Cnference n Financial Educatin shuld be aware f the fllwing: General sessin cntent must supprt the Cnference Theme f Financial Literacy 2.0: Ensuring Effective Outcmes. Financial literacy has reached a transfrmatinal mment. Only recently has meaningful research been cnducted int the effectiveness f financial literacy educatin, with mixed results. At the same time, cnversatin has recently turned t what effective actually means and hw t ensure that financial literacy prduces psitive, practical utcmes fr cnsumers at each stage f life. Cncurrent sessin cntent must supprt BOTH the Cnference Theme f Financial Literacy 2.0: Ensuring Effective Outcmes AND ne f the Cncurrent Sessin Themes. This year s cncurrent sessin themes are as fllws: Cncurrent Track 1: Behaviral Ecnmics: frm Educatin t Actin. This track will explre the cncepts f behaviral ecnmics and hw they might be integrated int financial educatin in rder t help cnsumers mve frm learning t ding. Cncurrent Track 2: Prgram Design & Develpment: Putting the Pieces Tgether. This track will explre the prgram design and develpment prcess, whether fr a single class, a multi-part series r an immersive educatinal experience. Cnsumer interactin in all ther fields is mving t a mre persnalized apprach, s a ne size fits all apprach t financial educatin is nt sustainable and may nt be effective. Cncurrent Track 3: Outcme Assessment: Chsing, Cllecting & Analyzing Metrics. This track will explre ne f the single mst challenging aspects f financial educatin: determining if a prgram has been effective. Funders, prviders and recipients f financial educatin all value effectiveness, but few financial educatin prgrams generate the types f data that can demnstrate effectiveness (r lack theref).
