2 Extending college tuition credits and child tax credit get equal voter support in House battleground In the next few months, the Senate will vote on a budget, including deciding which tax cuts or breaks to make permanent for next year. I'm going to read of some tax breaks or tax credits that the Senate might consider continuing. After I read each one, please tell me whether you would favor or oppose making that tax break or credit permanent House Battleground Strongly favor Teaching expense tax credit, which gives a 250 dollar deduction to teachers who pay for classroom expenses out of their own pocket Somewhat favor Tuition and fees deduction, which allows students to claim up to four thousand dollars for higher education expenses The Child Tax Credit, which gives a tax break for lower income and middle class working families with children Tax credits for taxpayers who make energy efficient improvements to their homes Research and development tax credits for companies who do their research in the U.S The Earned Income Tax Credit, which reduces the tax burden for low-wage workers A tax credit for homeowners who owe more on their homes than they are worth to help them sell their houses House Battleground survey of 1,100 likely 2014 voters in the 66 most competitive House districts, Oct. 4-9,
