4 INDIA Very high luxury villas between Rs 1.3 and Rs 1.5 billion each The company of the Tata Group, Tata Housing plans to develop 5 high luxury residential villas over a plot of land of 1.3 acre near Connaught Place in New Delhi. French and Italian architects will design the project. The selling price of a villa will turn between Rs 1.3 and Rs 1.5 billion (yes, you have well read, billion!). This will be a very premium, luxury project, once it s ready and would be for a very selective, discerning customer group, said Brotin Banerjee, Chief Executive Officer of Tata Housing to the press. A contract worth Rs 100 billion The defence department of India will purchase armoured and specialist vehicles for a value of Rs 100 billion over the next four years. The manufacturers Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Asia Motor Works (AMW) have expressed their intention to participate in the bid for light armoured multipurpose vehicles for the army. Ashok Leyland will submit its tender for the supply of light specialist vehicles. The value of these two contracts will turn around Rs 40 billion. The director of the customs services of Madagascar has stated to the press that the delivery of air cargo will be done within 24 hours and that of maritime goods especially those classified under the yellow circuit, within 48 hours. The production of vanilla is declining The production of vanilla is decreasing from year to year. In 2011, tons were produced in Madagascar, in 2012, tons and last year, around 900 tons. Two main factors explain that trend namely bad farming practices and the low flowering percentage. Red vanilla which represents between 85% and 90% of the total production, is exported since February while the black vanilla will be exported as from the month of April. SADC has lifted the suspension on Madagascar Since the beginning of February, following the presidential elections and restoration of constitutional order in Madagascar, the SADC has lifted the suspension on Madagascar. Regional trade between Madagascar and the 14 other SADC member states will resume.

Regular power cuts at the port of Beira At the beginning of February, the port of Beira and other cities in the central part of Mozambique suffered regular power cuts due to problems with an electrical sub-station.
