3 School of Business & Humanities Introduction This report presents detailed information on the First Destinations of graduates for 2014 from the School of Business & Humanities at Limerick Institute of Technology. The results provide an important indication of graduate trends over a period of hopeful recovery in the Irish economy. The results for the School of Business & Humanities reflect the employment and further patterns of 311 graduates of full-time Higher Certificate (Level 6), Degree (Level 7) and Honours Degree (Level 8) programmes offered. The rate of response for the Class of 2014 was 37%, an increase of 3% from Overview of Results In summary; 74% of graduates surveyed from the Class of 2014 are in employment, holding steady on 2013 figures. 7% of graduates were seeking employment at the time of the survey. The number pursuing further is at 1 this year. 3% of the Class of 2014 are in unpaid employment or volunteering. 3% 1 Seeking Employment 7% 74% employment or Unpaid Employment/ 97% of graduates surveyed from the School of Business & Humanities have remained in to secure employment, reflecting a slowing trend for migration amongst graduates. Of those who remained in, 7 have remained in the Mid-West region. 2

The grad Graduate Salary & Recruitment Trends Survey 2015 found that the actual median starting salary paid to graduates hired in 2014/15 is 27,953. 5 1.0.3 How do Graduates source employment? As with previous years the Class of 2014 use the Internet to source employment most prominently. This year we see a high figure of 33% for the number of graduates securing employment via the internet in This is a trend reflected throughout the Institute. Notable is that 14% returned to their placement employers while 1 of students used their external network to secure employment, while 12% used college or careers service contacts.
