2 If you do listen to the media, you're misinformed." - Mark Twain Three Things Gold Investors Need to Do Now If you're invested in gold, here's some good news: Dennis Gartman, Founder and Publisher of the Gartman Letter, has some advice for you. "Gold is still probably going to head lower," says Gartman. "So, you've got to do something." Here are Gartman's three tips on what gold investors should next: 1.Reduce the size of your position: Gartman says: "You always have to own some gold, but you don't have to own as much as you have. 2.Sell call options against your gold: Gartman says: "That might be a way to mitigate your risk. If you have an account that allows you to trade options, take a look at the gold ETF (such as GLD). I think you have to sell some at-the-money calls to protect yourself on the downside. At least take in a little bit of income. Volatility levels have been rather high in the last several weeks. The price of an option is predicated upon how volatile the underlying instrument has been. Gold has been unbelievably volatile and it has been on the downside. Option premiums are going to be little bit higher. So, sell some options. 3.Sell mining shares against your gold: Gartman says: "Sell the gold ETF short if you can take a short position. Or, if you can't do that, sell short some of the mining stocks. The mining stocks have been horribly underperforming bullion itself. That might be a way to do it.

3 "But the easiest way," says Gartman, "is simply reducing the size of your trade. Gold still looks like it wants to go lower. If you have an exposure, cutting some of that exposure in some manner is the proper course of action to be taken. " For those who think now is a good time to average down their investment, Gartman warns, "Averaging down is the carcinogen of investment. You have no idea how far down can be. When you average down, you're averaging a losing trade. You know it and I know it. We had a nice turnout for our first LUGS meeting on JUN 8th The next one is The real question is, what are you going to do when it happens? Some investors will let it scare them off... others will stand frozen in fear. And they'll all lose big because of it. So I want to make sure you are 100% prepared when the inevitable pullback happens. Because when it does, you don't have to be like a deer-in-the-headlights! 7 This Can't Last Forever... Can It? The U.S. oil industry started to take root in the latter half of the 19th century. But it wasn't until much later that things really started to flourish. Even the famous discovery on Spindletop, which shot 100,000 barrels of crude per day over 150 feet into the air for more than a week, was more of a starting point for domestic production. In the three decades following that moment in history, U.S. oil output grew 1,127%, averaging 2.3 million barrels per day in 1931 (slightly less than current Texas production). Here's a quick primer on what things looked like thirty years after Spindletop... With Herbert Hoover as president, the United States had a GDP of $76.6 billion, or $703.6 billion in 1996 dollars, according to the Census Bureau. Comparatively, U.S. GDP in 2012 was well over $15 trillion (in 2012 dollars). Oil traded around 65 cents per barrel, or around ten bucks in today's dollars. Of course, the population of 124 million people was roughly half of what it is today - and only 24 million vehicles were registered throughout the country. That same year, the Saint Louis Cardinals won the World Series over the Philadelphia Athletics. KEYS TO THE BEGINNING OF A RECOVERY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. The Real Estate market must stabilize. Ifnot reversing, at least not continuing to fall. Inventory

8 still huge and getting worse! However, one dichotomy is that the best performing sector in 2011 was Real Estate; and the first 1/2 of 2012 RE is also leading the way...go figure. Rental units are highly coveted. 2. Unemployment must stabilize. If not reversing, at least not continuing to rise. Last report was indeed unstable! AND IT CONTINUES TO REMAIN ABOVE 7%! The REAL RATE is much closer to 20% if you really count ALL without a job! Of course there's very little motivation to really search for a job with unemployment payments now running 99 weeks!!! 3. Corporate earnings (profits) must stabilize. If not reversing, at least not continuing to fall. SOME POSITIVE SIGNS. But top line growth (new sales) have just not been there. There's just so much cost cutting that can be done. We'll see what the rest of 2012 brings. 4. Banks must begin to make loans again (especially to small businesses and potential home owners... albeit under ancient premises of buyers being qualified and of all things, a down payment! Lots of "hoopla" from the mega banks, but it appears that there's no real progress. They're hoarding any cash they can get their hands on. And that probably includes Helicopter Ben's newest $42 BILLION a month! And now, here comes Regional problems compounded by PRIME loan, Alt-A resets in the Commercial end! Beware of your bank's ratings. Community Banks offer the best deal! We are checking them out at least weekly. Call me. I have some personal experience here. 5. The DOLLAR has to decline. It's started for REAL But now with the Euro going down the tubes today and rallying tomorrow, the dollar seems to be the best of the worst. 6. Auto sales must stabilize at some NEW level. Maybe started! Chrysler and Ford reported excellent growth numbers. 7. The consumer must get "back in the game of consumin" - NO WAY (except for the carzy APPLE IPhone)... NOT YET at any rate!
