Last year we had 8,000 people attend our events, and we are excited to see this year s festival grow. There are a few important dates that you should mark on your calendar in the lead up for Pride Fest: Flag Raising - June 18, 6:00pm Pride Parade - June 23, 12:00pm Pride in the Park - June 23 12:30pm Pride Dance - June 23, 8:00pm We are excited to work with your organization to include you into Southern Alberta s largest LGBTQ+ Pride Festival, and what has become widely regarded as one of the most diverse and inclusive Pride Festivals. Within this package you will find the information that you will need in order to participate in Lethbridge Pride Fest Thank you again for your willingness to come out and show your support.

3 Advertising in the Pride Guide Lethbridge Pride Fest Society will be releasing an Event Package outlining all the events taking place during Lethbridge Pride Fest If your organization would like to purchase a space advertising your business, wishing a loved one well, or promoting your organization s activities please contact the Society s Coordinator of Promotions. 4 Sponsorship Information Lethbridge Pride Fest provides an opportunity for you to introduce your brand to a significant media market, the extremely brand loyal LGBTQ+ community. Lethbridge Pride Fest 2018 is the best opportunity in Southern Alberta for your business to reach this important consumer base. Lethbridge Pride Fest is the largest LGBTQ+ event in Southern Alberta that attracts a very diverse audience; people aged 5 to 95; men, women, other, and children; singles, couples, and families; gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people and their straight allies. Lethbridge residents as well as tourists from Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Montana join us for the event every year. Your sponsorship carries an additional benefit of increased advertising time as well as being showcased in our Parade through downtown Lethbridge. All sponsorship packages for this year s event include free placement for your group or business in our parade. Print and digital recognition of sponsors will be shared with the Lethbridge community starting May 25, In order to meet this deadline you must have entered into discussions with the Coordinator of Sponsorship before May 14, 2018 and provide the Coordinator with the accurate spelling of the name of your organization and the logo you would liked to be used (when required). 6 X Pride Parade Information Information Thank you for taking the time and willingness to participate in the Lethbridge Pride Parade. The parade will take place on Saturday, June 23, The parade will begin at noon, starting at Lethbridge City Hall. Please meet no later than 11:00 a.m. to be marshalled into your parade placement. Parade Applications MUST be turned into Lethbridge Pride Fest Society prior to being permitted to march in the parade. On Friday, June 22, 2018 at noon the order of parade floats will be announced using Pride Fest s Facebook page and website. Subject to change at the discretion of the parade coordinator. The offical parade route is still being determined. Due to our success, we are expanding and moving to a larger mustering point. The offical route will be given to you upon receipt of your application. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Coordinator. Application The Applicant makes application to the Society to participate in the Lethbridge Pride Fest Parade to be held on June 23, Upon acceptance of this application in writing, we agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions set out in this Application Form. 7 X Pride Parade Application Terms and Conditions: 1. The Society reserves the right to approve or reject this Application. If approved, written acceptance of the Application will be sent to you by at the address identified above. Upon acceptance, further details will be provided to you. 2. Placement in the parade lineup is at the discretion of the Society s Coordinator of Parades. Your lineup assignment will be provided to you on the parade day. Do you have any special requests you would like considered? 3. All floats must comply with City of Lethbridge parade guidelines and the Alberta Traffic Safety Act ( Act ). You are responsible for ensuring these regulations are met. We reserve the right to reject the float if the float does not meet the specifications received from the City of Lethbridge does not comply with the Act. 4. In consideration of the Society allowing the Applicant the opportunity to participate in the parade, the Applicant, its representatives, employees and participants, at their sole and absolute risk, undertake such participation. 5. The Applicant further agrees as follows: (a) To waive any and all claims that they have or may have against the Society, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents (all of whom are collectively referred to as Released Parties ), arising directly or indirectly from our participation in the parade; and (b) To release the Released Parties from any and all liability for any loss, damage, injury or expense that we may suffer or that any employee or participant may suffer as a result of our participation in the parade, due to any cause, including any wrongful act or omission, negligence, breach of contract or breach of any statutory or other duty of care on the part of the Released Parties. 6. This Agreement shall be effective and binding on the heirs, executors, administrator and assigns of the Applicant. I HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT AND CONFIRM THAT I/WE UNDERSTOOD IT PRIOR TO SIGNING IT. I AM AWARE THAT BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, I AM WAIVING LEGAL RIGHTS TO SUE FOR DAMAGES WHICH I, MY NEXT OF KIN, EXECUTORS, ADMINISTRATORS AND ASSIGNS MAY HAVE AGAINST THE RELEASED PARTIES. 8 X Lethbridge Pride Awards Lethbridge Pride Fest Society serves the gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, two-spirited, queer community and allies by providing events and programs regarding sexual and gender diversity. The Lethbridge Pride Fest Society Board congratulates and expresses our appreciation to this year s Award recipients for their contributions to our community. The 2018 Pride Awards recipients join a distinguished group of community members. Academic Excellence Recognizes an individual who through significant scholarship, teaching, or academic pursuit has enriched the LGBTQ+ community of Lethbridge & Southern Alberta. Arts & Culture Recognizes an individual who has contributed, achieved, or enriched the Lethbridge & Southern Alberta LGBTQ+ community in an outstanding manner through music, theatre, dance, literature, or visual arts. Business & Service Recognizes a business or organization that has made significant contributions to the Lethbridge & Southern Alberta LGBTQ+ community over the years. Non-profit Community Organization Recognizes a non-profit organization that has made significant contributions to the Lethbridge & Southern Alberta LGBTQ+ community over the years. Teen Leadership Recognizes an individual under the age of 18 who, through leadership, has demonstrated a commitment or significant contribution to the Lethbridge & Southern Alberta LGBTQ+ community. Young Adult Leadership Recognizes an individual aged who, through leadership, has demonstrated a commitment or significant contribution to the Lethbridge & Southern Alberta LGBTQ+ community. Community Development Recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Lethbridge & Southern Alberta LGBTQ+ community through voluntary service, leadership, or activism over the past year. 10 Pride in the Park Vendor Information XPride in the Park (Saturday, June 23, 2018) is a great opportunity for you to share your passion with the world. Whether it is knitted accessories, fashion for dogs, face painting, or culinary treats, this is the place for you! Vendor tables are available for non-profit organizations, businesses, private individuals, and food trucks. For Vendors, a fee of $40.00 is charged along with a $10.00 deposit (returned upon arrival at the park on June 23 rd ). Please make all cheques payable to Lethbridge Pride Fest Society. For VIP Vendors, fees are assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on the needs of the client. Please contact the Coordinator for more details. For Food Trucks, a fee of $50.00 is charged. Please make all cheques payable to Lethbridge Pride Fest Society. In addition, we ask that you comply with Alberta Food Services and come equipped with your own insurance. 11 Pride in the Park X Performers Pride in the Park (Saturday, June 23, 2018) is an outdoor concert that is attended by a wide variety of people taking place from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All types of performance are welcome. In the past we have had bands, drag performances, dancing, spoken word, and much more. If you are interested in performing at this year s Pride in the Park please provide the name of your act, a promo photo/head shot, a description of your act, and sample of your work by May 1, Band/Act Name: Contact Person: Contact Information: Type of Act: Equipment Requirements: Do you have samples of previous performances? Volunteering Lethbridge Pride Fest is always looking for energetic folks to help with a variety of activities during Lethbridge Pride Fest Whether it is selling merchandise, decorating venues for events, set-up/cleanup, bartending, or providing V.I.P. assistance to the celebrities and guests that come to Pride Fest, we have a job for you. The volunteer job list is normally finalized 30 days prior to the start of Lethbridge Pride Fest. However, a list of interested individuals is maintained throughout the year. 12 Business Decorating Contest 2016 Winner Once Upon a Bride 2017 Winner Drunken Sailor Who will win this year? Please join us in celebrating 10 years of Pride in our community during the month of June. Historically, June is recognized as Pride month across North America and other countries, as the Stonewall Riots, which kick started the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, began on June 28 th, Here in Lethbridge we want to celebrate Pride in June in a special way, with your help! Lethbridge Pride Fest will be hosting the third Pride Window Display contest during the month of June. Starting on June 1 st we encourage you to set up a unique, colourful and supportive window display showing your support for the LGBTQ+ community in our city. There are no restrictions for your display, but we hope you can incorporate the Rainbow Flag somehow. Judges will visit all participating businesses on Saturday, June 16 th to choose the winner! They will also take into account the presence of the display on social media. Therefore, please have your display ready by this date! The winning business will receive: Two tickets to the Pride Dance on June 23 rd, Prime positioning in the Lethbridge Pride Parade on June 23 rd, Verbal recognition at Pride in the Park on June 23 rd, as well as social media recognition, Sticker of recognition to place in store front window, A plaque to commemorate your achievement, and Lots of love from the LGBTQ+ community. 13 Program Partnership Agreement Lethbridge Pride Fest Society is always looking for new ways to grow the calendar of events during Lethbridge Pride Fest 2018 and help celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community. The official dates from the festival are from June 15 to June 23. Although we would prefer events to take place during this time period, events do not have to be restricted to this nine-day period. We do, however, ask that events do not overlap with the Flag Raising (Monday, June 18) or the Pride Parade, Pride in the Park, and Pride Dance (Saturday, June 23). Events will be advertised in print and digital formats starting May 24, In order to meet this deadline we ask that you have your ideas for events before May 14, 2018 along with all the relevant information. The responsibilities of each party in the partnership will be clarified at the beginning, to balance responsibilities between all parties. 2. The program includes active participation from the Lethbridge Pride Fest Society s board members, types of involvement could include a. An introduction to the program, b. A display and/or handouts of programs related materials at the event, c. Promotion through verbal promotion, displays, handouts, and/or digital, d. A photo booth at the event, and e. Other activities as deemed appropriate. 3. All promotional materials, including posters, advertisements and press releases: a. Indicate the program is partnered with the Lethbridge Pride Fest Society, b. Include all parties logos and/or names, and c. Are approved by Lethbridge Pride Fest Society 5 days prior to their public release. 4. All partnered programs will be reviewed on a regular basis to determine: a. If the program continues to meet Lethbridge Pride Fest Society s and the partner s expectations, and b. If the partnership will continue and if so, when the next review date will be.
