1 TRINITY GRMAR SCHOOL Yearly Examinations August/September 2017 Exams will be held in the Assembly Hall, Centenary Centre or Music Centre unless otherwise indicated. Please check carefully. Please check the reading time of each individual examination. Rules for Students During the Examination period, students are not required to attend School except when they have an examination. Boys are expected to travel directly to School and return directly home. When boys have more than one examination on the one day, they are not permitted to leave the campus between examination sessions, and are to use the Study Hall or Library to study between exams. Boys must arrive at School about half an hour before the commencement of their Examination. This is to allow sufficient time for all boys to be properly called in and for the Examination to start punctually. Boys will not generally be permitted to enter an examination more than one hour late. No allowance can be made for late arrival of boys in the examination room. No boy will be permitted to leave an examination prior to the published finish time. However, should a boy be late for an examination through circumstances which he believes were unavoidable and not his fault, he should report immediately on his arrival to the Director of Curriculum or the Master of the Senior School, who will determine the appropriate course of action. Boys are to present for all examinations in normal School uniform, and correctly groomed. Reading time may only be used for reading. Writing or marking the paper in anyway during this time is not permitted and may lead to disqualification for the Examination. No boy is to leave his seat during an examination unless a supervisor has granted permission. Permission is only to be sought by raising a hand. Permission to use the toilet will not be given in the last fifteen (15) minutes of any examination. All boys are expected to have all the required equipment for each examination in a transparent plastic bag or container. Borrowing of equipment will not be permitted. Required equipment includes either a stapler or a supply of paper clips. Please note, however, that paper or booklets will be supplied. All answers must be written legibly in pen; diagrams, however, may be drawn in pencil. Boys may not bring mobile telephones, pagers or other electronic communication devices into the Examination room. These devices must be secured in the boy s locker. At the conclusion of each examination, the instruction to Cease work will be given. Nothing further may be written and there is to be no speaking until you have been dismissed and have exited the examination room. Any case of alleged academic misconduct will be referred to the Director of Curriculum who will confer with the Master of the Senior School. If the allegation is substantiated, the penalty may include, but not be limited to, the award of zero (0) marks for the particular examination paper. Any case of serious misbehaviour in an examination will be referred to the Master of the Senior School. In the event of a student having to be removed from the examination room, he will not be re-admitted and his examination script will be regarded as completed as of the point of his removal. The penalty may include, but not be limited to, the award of zero (0) marks for the particular examination paper. Boys may not bring unauthorised notes or other such materials into the Examination Room. Possession of notes is a serious breach of the rules; it will not be necessary to prove that they were used.

2 Absence from an Examination Most Examinations are Assessment Tasks and therefore student absence must be treated in the same manner as absence from other Assessment Tasks. Should absence be necessary, the student or a family member must telephone the Student Services Secretary ( or answering machine ) as early as possible to notify their absence. On their return, students who were ill must bring evidence of their inability to attend in the form of a Doctor s Certificate (not from a family member). Students who were absent due to exceptional circumstances (such as a family crisis) must bring a detailed note from a parent, explaining the circumstances and why attendance was not possible. Such evidence must be given to the Curriculum Office. On the day of his return to School, it is also the boy s responsibility to report to the Curriculum Office. Subject to the decision of the Director of Curriculum regarding the reason for the absence, a make- up examination time will be scheduled if possible. Alleged misreading of the examination timetable cannot be compensated. Boys who fail to attend an examination claiming that they have misread the examination timetable will be awarded zero (0) marks. Boys are strictly warned against using draft timetables; only the final examination timetable will provide accurate information about examination scheduling. Mr J Cheers Academic Dean July 2017
