6 COMMITTEE SPOTLIGHT EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION WHAT IS THE MUTUAL BENEFIT PLAN COMMITTEE? The Mutual Benefit Plan (Plan) is a low cost death benefit coverage offered by your Water and Power Employees Association. The Employees Association Mutual Benefit Plan (Plan) Committee s three to six members meet once each month and have charge of all the business and affairs of the Corporation s Mutual Benefit Plan. This includes the accepting or rejecting of applications for membership, or Plan participation according to established rules or regulations. They also oversee the levying and collecting of all Plan assessments; authorize all beneficiary payments; and handle any other matters directly related to or pertaining to the Plan. Along with insuring the prompt payment of death claims, the committee makes determinations in certain cases that require special attention, or when questions arise regarding beneficiary or member status. Sometimes, new circumstances arise, or new laws become enacted that require Plan changes. The committee evaluates these and then acts in the best interest of the Plan s members. To ensure a financially sound Plan, the committee contracts an external vendor to conduct periodic actuarial studies. This helps determine whether our current monthly premiums are sufficient to collect the necessary funds needed to pay death claims in the future. The committee also reviews monthly reports and financial statements to become aware of trends that may occur. The Plan is an affordable way for members to provide for burial expenses or any financial need of their designated beneficiary (ies). The Mutual Benefit Plan Committee promotes the Plan to members by advertising important Plan information every month in the Association Report magazine. The committee also manages a promotional budget used to purchase items given at Fairs and various events throughout the year. Please contact the Employees Association to learn more about becoming a Mutual Benefit Plan Committee member, or to benefit from the Plans low-cost membership! 4 ASSOCIATION REPORT

I have worked for the department 10 years now, and being in Generation I have first hand witnessed and experienced the hard work we put forth in Operations, Maintenance, and the Instrument Shop including Harbor, Scattergood and Valley Generating Stations. In Generation we work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year including holidays. I just want to give a shout out to all of our hard working DWP employees who are on the front lines.
