1 Online Classes ELAC Spring 2016 Students who take online classes make a commitment to log on to their classes at least three times per week. Online courses are designed for students who enjoy learning independently and cannot attend on-campus on a regular basis, and who are comfortable using a computer. Online courses are not self-paced courses; they follow the semester schedule and online students have deadlines and schedules just as classroom courses do. Online classes are academically the same as on-campus classes, and meet the same General Education and Transfer requirements as their on-campus counterparts. To take online classes at ELAC, you must first apply to the campus and go through the matriculation process. Online classes follow the same academic calendar as regular classes. This means that they start when the semester starts. Some online classes are short term classes which have their own start dates; please check the schedule of classes on those dates: The office of Distance Education nor the Distance Education Coordinator does not provide academic counseling ( or financial aid information ( index.htm). BEFORE ENROLLING IN AN ONLINE CLASS: You must be a student at ELAC: You must have completed the matriculation and orientation process: You must have a valid registered with the campus: edu/webstudent/signon.asp You must enroll during your appointment date and time DURING ENROLLMENT OF ONLINE CLASSES: You must register for classes using the Student Information System: eweb3.laccd.edu/webstudent/signon.asp If you missed the regular registration period you must use the ACE portal to ADD: - Only the instructor of the course can add you to a class - Please direct questions about course content, requirements, and/or requests to add a course to the instructor. - The instructor of the course must first approve your add request - Once the instructor approves your add, admissions must approve your add request - Admissions must approve your add request If admissions denies your add request, you must clear your hold with admissions If admissions approves your add request, it will take 2 business days for you to access the Etudes course site AFTER ENROLLING IN AN ONLINE CLASS: Please check the start date of your class.
