2 EMBRACING CHANGE Last year we referred to the challenges and uncertainty we had faced, but also our sense of excitement and energy as we looked forward. Writing this new report today, we can record that our optimistic tone was well founded, as Leisure Networks has grown in every conceivable way. Our disability supports and capacity building services are in high demand and our community and sport development programs have enjoyed significant expansion. We continue to be regarded highly for our proactive, creative and customer-focussed approach. None of this would have been possible without the commitment, skill, determination and integrity of our wonderful staff and we thank and congratulate each and every one of them for their accomplishments. Our team are professionals who commit to working with passion and professionalism. It is the dedication of our people that is positioning Leisure Networks as a class leading organisation and we feel privileged to have them as colleagues. Critical to well-functioning operations is effective governance and Leisure Networks continues to benefit from the outstanding work and skills of a deeply committed Board. In October 2015 we farewelled Wendy Miles, who made a tremendous contribution over 10 years including as Chair and Deputy Chair. We thank Wendy and wish her good luck in the years ahead. In March 2015 Leisure Networks was fortunate to gain the services of Adrian Hart, who joined us as a Director with a rich and relevant background. Adrian is already making his mark. In keeping with good practice, the Board constantly reviews its operations and governance structure. During the year, we reduced the number of Board Meetings, but added additional oversight through a new Services Quality Committee. Both Management and the Board are clear that within an increasingly competitive market the quality of our work will determine our future success and relevance. Chaired by Howard Randall, the Committee is already having an impact on Leisure Networks as a quality driven enterprise. Our well established Audit and Risk Committee continues its vital work, Chaired by Ross Fraser. Both Ross and Howard continue to support business operations ensuring the development of efficient systems and reporting. Our organisation has had to take risks to get to where it is today. These risks have involved transitioning to becoming a commerciallyfocussed enterprise that is still values-driven, and positioning ourselves as a consultant in the area of community development. A year ago, the Board signed off on a deficit budget that reflected our collective will to invest in a different sort of future for the organisation. As it turned out, the actual deficit was much smaller than we had anticipated, proving that our faith in our people and approach was well founded. Today, looking forward, as Chairman and CEO, we are full of optimism for Leisure Networks and its ongoing growth. There are many opportunities ahead for agile organisations that embrace innovation and welcome change. Leisure Networks will assuredly be one of these organisations.
