OUR FRIENDS OUR RELATIVES OUR COMMUNITY...OUR TEAM OUR SPORT...OUR CLUB Will greatly benefit from NEW COMMUNITY CLUBHOUSE A BRIEF HISTORY Chesham Rugby Club has come a long way in the 35 years since it came into being at the Red Lion pub in From a single men s pub team to one which now has four senior Men s teams, a Women s team, three girls teams, five junior teams, seven mini teams and indoor rugby classes for under 4 and 5 year old s. All led by World Cup winning coaches Rocky Clark MBE and Kat Merchant! We have also affiliated Falcons netball into the club who will operate under Stags kit and banner from this season, making us a true community club centred on sport and inclusivity for all. In 2012 we agreed to forego the lease on our clubhouse at Chiltern Hills as part of their transition to Academy status and a major capital investment project to upgrade and overhaul the facilities. Since then we have been transient on site at the Academy without adequate changing, social, catering or meeting facilities. We share the schools changing rooms and have to hire facilities or hold social functions off site. The club is now at a cross road in its development. So what do we need? A will provide an improved experience for players, supporters and visitors as our lack of changing and hospitality space restricts us in providing a quality experience for hosting opposition and social events. Our facilities limitations mean we are not considered as a venue for higher standard county representative games and age group trials or county led courses to develop coaches and referees. It also severely restricts our capability to host functions and social events and generate revenue. The facilities provided by the are vital to giving our club the platform needed to move onto the next phase of its strategic development plan. In recent seasons we have had three teams achieve promotion into higher leagues and had successful cup runs. We are well positioned to grow further if we have the right facilities to support what we are trying to achieve on the pitch. This project is an opportunity for our club and our community to grow and to nurture our young people in a friendly and supportive environment. It also helps us attract and retain talented players, bringing them a concrete example of what is possible in this club and the level of our aspirations. Where we are today Many of the key components to allow us to commence the build are in place: we have full planning permission we have agreement on the Heads of Terms to commence drafting 25 year leases on the clubhouse and pitches we have fully specified plans ready to go to tender. What we now need to do is close the funding gap required to commence the build. We have raised significant funds to date, and have been successful in being invited onto the RFU Funding Framework for 2016 / This means we have access to an interest free loan and grants which are pivotal to achieving our fundraising target. However we must draw down these funds before 30th June 2017 or we will lose them. What do we do now? We have a clear plan of how we can raise the additional funds needed to ensure we start and complete the clubhouse build in 2017 and this booklet will set out the ways in which you and your family could contribute and invest to make this happen. We need you to make it happen

6 4 Rugby RFF LOAN GUARANTOR The Club has access to a 100,000 interest free loan from the Football Foundation which is repayable over 15 years. AND ARE YOU A DEER FRIEND? Crucial to the club s ability to honour its debt repayments is the current Deer Friends scheme which raises 15,000 per annum (net) The RFF requires the loan to be underwritten should the club default at any point We require 10 people to underwrite 10,000 each It is based on several liability and reduces over the term of the loan period No capital is required up-front Individual friends from 5 per month via direct debit Corporate friends from 20 per month via direct debit Includes a Deer Friend scarf 20% of all monthly proceeds passed back to one person every month (currently 304) Sign up today and ensure the club has a stable cashflow Full details available in Herd the News
