What do you think are the three most important issues facing Lumby today? - The most common response by a wide margin was the need for employment opportunities - The need for housing was also frequent, respondents used terms like affordable and low cost - Third most common was the need for medical service practitioners 26

There were many other varied responses to this question; the three from the previous slide were by far the most frequent, however some others included: - The appearance of downtown and the need for beautification / revitalization - Related to the previous point, there were numerous comments about unsightly and derelict buildings - The impact from flooding and the need to protect the Village from flooding came up occasionally - Road maintenance and infrastructure were commented on from time to time: the need to maintain (including line painting etc.) and replace - Activities for youth were commented on - Level of taxation and staffing was said to be high by some respondents 27

Please provide any additional comments you may have for Lumby s Council Most common response was a thank you or good job message to Council and/or staff; many expressed satisfaction and gratitude. There were many comments on the need for growth, which respondents sometimes linked to lowering the tax burden on existing residents which some felt were too high for various reasons (high employee wages, too many staff, unnecessary or wasteful spending, etc.) 42
43 32. Continued There was many comments on bylaw being proactive instead of reactive / complaint driven. Some suggested more communication between Council and residents. A number of responses touched on derelict or unsightly buildings and the need to address these to improve the visual profile of the community 43
