Robert Nizzi is president of Enterprise Risk Strategies (ERS), which recently joined Montage Investments. ERS provides risk solutions to public companies, private companies and individuals. Robert is responsible for all operations focusing on creating new business and driving strategic development. Robert has more than two decades of experience in the insurance industry, including more than 15 years in alternative risk financing. While at that company, Robert started the Kansas City Property Casualty office and within four years grew it into one of the top 25 in the Greater Kansas City Area. He has an extensive background in alternative risk financing and risk management. Robert has a bachelor s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from Iowa State University. While the national conversation is dominated by people who are preoccupied with fixing the debt, and balancing the federal budget, Dr. Kelton asks whether the national debt is a legitimate problem and whether balancing the budget is a sensible policy goal. She'll discuss the operational side of money creation and government finance, and she will show why balancing the federal budget might be one of the most fiscally irresponsible things our government could do. Understood in the context of the workings of the modern monetary system, her insights make it clear why Washington seems to be getting it all wrong. Stephanie Kelton, Ph.D. is Chair of the Economics Department at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Editor-in-Chief of New Economic Perspectives. An estimated 20 percent of Americans have some sort of disability. Clients who have a family member or relative that fits in this category need very special planning in order to ensure that the member is wellcared for over the long term. The client requires retirement planning for more than the typical two-some, and the estate design can seem complicated to both the family and their heirs. Without very specific preparation, both the individual and the advisor may be at risk. The technical issues in regard to government benefits and special needs trusts as well as the nuances of communicating appropriately to these families are both critical skills. These competencies are required by advisors so that effective financial strategies can be put into place. Professionals have the ability to deepen client relationships while managing business risk by starting the client conversation with confidence and asking the right questions. Mary Anne will help you understand how to discuss special needs planning most effectively with your clients and provide compassionate as well as sage advice to those families. Mary Anne Ehlert, CFP, is a financial professional and sister to an individual with disabilities. She is highly regarded as a specialist in working with families of individuals with disabilities and the elderly and speaks to conferences and television audiences on financial planning. President and Founder of both Protected Tomorrows, Inc. and Ehlert Financial Group, Inc., Mary Anne serves as a member of the Board of Directors of several organizations providing services to children and adults with special needs, including; Vice-chair, National Disability Institute in Washington DC, and Illinois Special Olympics. She is a member of the Alliance for the Mentally Ill, The ARC of Illinois and the National Council on Aging. Mary Anne has been honored for her contributions to the Lake County Advocacy Conference for Persons with Disabilities.
