2 COURSE DESCRIPTIONS Bill Bengen, CFP - Creator of the 4% Withdrawal Rule for Retirees: How to Recognize and Correct a Failing Retirement Portfolio Withdrawal Plan - This one-hour program will present a process for detecting and fixing a retirement portfolio withdrawal plan which appears to be failing; i.e., at risk of failing to provide the desired longevity. Attendees of this program will learn the fundamentals of the 4% rule : what it means, when & how to use it; historical precedents for failed portfolio withdrawal plans; how to determine whether a current portfolio withdrawal plan is failing; and techniques for fixing a failing retirement plan. The program will also review three case studies to illustrate these principles. Richard DeFusco, Ph.D., CFA - Chair, Department of Finance, UNL: Projecting Future Investment Returns; Realistic Return Expectations for the Coming Years - Market returns on stocks and bonds over the next decade are expected to fall short of historical averages, according to 2017 estimates by market analysts. This program will provide a broad overview of the methodology used for calculating our market return estimates and highlights the importance of maintaining long-term financial objectives that are based on reasonable expectations. Mark A. Wynegar, CFA - President, Portfolio Manager, Tributary Capital Management: A Portfolio Manager's Perspective on Mutual Fund Selection, & Insights into Fund Management - This program will describe concepts useful for evaluating mutual funds, and provide an in-depth look at the presenter s process for implementing a mutual fund s investment philosophy. Attendees of this program will come away with ideas that will assist them in assessing and selecting mutual fund investments. Jamie Hopkins, Esq., MBA, LLM, CLU & RICP & Assoc. Professor of Taxation at The American College: Housing Wealth - This one hour program will cover six different strategies for tapping into home equity to support a retirement income plan for clients. The program will review home equity literacy of Americans, what clients want with housing in retirement, tools for incorporating home equity into retirement income planning and effective uses of reverse mortgages. End Of Life Planning- This one hour program will cover a process for developing a quality end of life and estate plan for clients while addressing digital estate planning complications. Attendees will come away knowing the checklist of documents needed for estate planning, best practices for dealing with digital assets and common estate planning mistakes with ILITs. Troy Runnells, Asst. Director of Utah Educational Savings Plan: 529 Plans: Benefitting Your Clients, Their Children and You! - This presentation will educate financial advisors about the benefits of enrolling a 529 plan for their clients, including a review of the costs of higher education, 529 plan overview and tools for advisors. Eric Cott of the Options Industry Council & Bill Ryan of the New York Stock Exchange: Options: Understanding & Overcoming Client and Advisor Fears - As Advisors and their clients build investment portfolios, they usual focus on traditional asset classes like equities, fixed income, and cash. Often times this approach does not fully solve for managing risk when markets are volatile or if the market is in a lower yielding environment. Exchange-listed options may help advisors and their clients build strategies that protect and enhance their portfolios. In this discussion, you will hear from industry professionals on how and why options may solve client problems and have a better understanding of how advisors use options to grow their practices.
