7 Review of Changes Due to Health Care Reform Implemented in 2011 and Still in Effect Health care coverage for adult children up to age 26 Regardless of student or tax dependent status Coverage ends at the end of the month the dependent turns 26 Over the counter (OTC) medications are not be eligible for reimbursement from the Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Exceptions: Written doctor s prescription and insulin Other medical products will still be covered (e.g., bandages, saline solution, etc.) Lifetime maximum on medical plans were eliminated Health Care Reform will likely bring additional changes to NYU s benefits program in the future. 7

14 Life Insurance through Prudential Basic Life Insurance No cost to employees Supplemental Life Insurance: Available for purchase: Covered at $50,000 Up to five times salary (to a maximum of $1,000,000) Employees may update their life insurance beneficiary through the Benefits Resource Center. In increments of.5x (e.g.,.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, etc.) Evidence of Insurability (EOI) required during enrollment for any new enrollees or anyone increasing their supplemental life insurance. 14

Enroll Now through November 4, 2011 The 2012 Annual Open Enrollment period is your opportunity to review your current benefit coverage and, if you choose, make new selections for the coming year. What s new for 2012! Flexible Spending Accounts Health Care payment card available! As part of changing to a new Flexible Spending Account (FSA) vendor, Wage Works, if you enroll in the Health Care FSA you will have a new, quick and convenient way to pay for your health care expenses. You will receive a health care payment card to pay for qualified health care expenses. The money comes right out of your Health Care FSA, so in most cases you will not need to submit a claim and wait for reimbursement The amount you elect to contribute to your FSAs will be entered as an annual election, instead of monthly. Decision Support Center! If you are looking for assistance in selecting health care coverage, the Decision Support Center offers valuable, easy-to-use tools to help you choose a medical plan and accurately calculate your contributions for the Health Care and Dependent Care Spending Account. Additional information about What s New for 2012 is available in the 2012 Open Enrollment Guide available by selecting Plan Information from the right hand menu.
