26 P E N N S Y L V A N I A S S T A T E S Y S T E M O F H I G H E R E D U C A T I O N Enrollment Management Strategy Much more than admissions! Where do adult students (and veterans) fit in the strategy? Where does online/extended studies fit in the strategy? How to reach the million+ Pennsylvanian s with some college but no degree? How to better understand out-of-state and international student markets? How to move the needle on student transfers? How to improve retention and degree completion? What is the role of strategic financial aid?
27 P E N N S Y L V A N I A S S T A T E S Y S T E M O F H I G H E R E D U C A T I O N Academic Program Management Constant attention to relevance, currency, and productivity of all programs o o Most recent six month period: 8 new programs, 8 programs placed in moratorium, and 10 reorganized programs Increased flexibility to offer certificates at both graduate and undergraduate levels Carefully monitoring academic programs, courses (number and enrollment), and faculty assignments to maximize results with greater efficiency General education is an important part of all degrees and should be part of reviews for relevance, currency, and productivity Assessment is critical to the design of both general education and the major Academic programs should drive facilities plans
28 P E N N S Y L V A N I A S S T A T E S Y S T E M O F H I G H E R E D U C A T I O N Shared Services/Strategic Alliances State system is a leader in shared services Benchmarking exercise (2014) Assess continuing need/viability of current shared services even as new opportunities are pursued Understanding the balance between scale and customization Universities sharing services with each other (ESU/KU) Sharing is hard!
