3 J u n e Page 3 P a s t o r s J u n e M e s s a g e Our Lutheran Church has an emphasis on Art this year, especially Religious Art. Normally, when you see a picture you consider its expression, how you feel about it, its place in time and history. When you see religious art, it also includes theology (Understanding God). Religious art often explains the Bible in picture form. It tells a story. Notice, in this picture Cranach portrays himself next to John the Baptist and Martin Luther. The Blood of Jesus flows onto his head meaning that he (each believer) understands that Christ s sacrifice is for him saves him. We will have much more art sharing coming up. We re arranging visits to the Art and Reformation exhibit this Fall, GermanFest on June 19th. The Crucifixion by Lucas Cranach, the Younger 1538 In the meantime, look around the Church: the Stain Glass Windows, the Door handles of St. Mark and St. Paul, the Statue of Ruth, all the Banners, the Sunday School Hallway. Share your art! We re not only of the Priesthood of All Believers We re the Artists of All Believers ~Pastor Walt

We spent our time together at the meeting on these three questions: What should we stop doing? What should we keep doing? What should we start doing? These questions became a springboard for us to thoughtfully consider all that we have done and all that we could do in our community, to be In The City for Good. If you would like to add to any of these lists, please let Candy Petersen (our Congregational Liaison) know or feel free to utilize the Suggestion Box in the Social Hall. Dianne Testa
