2 National Society of Black Engineers 2 Application Checklist Research the position and be familiar with the National Constitution, National Bylaws, the Convention Planning Committee Taskforce and the Convention Planning Committee Operating Guidelines (provided post appointment). Complete and submit typewritten candidate application and questionnaire. Submit a Letter of Verification from the Registrar s Office verifying full-time student status and degree program. All items should be submitted to the Regional I Chairperson and National Parliamentarian. 3 National Society of Black Engineers 3 Duties and Responsibilities: National Convention Planning Committee Chairperson Shall ensure a successful and productive National Convention on an annual basis. b. Shall compile a brief synopsis of his/her yearly activities for the NSBE Annual Report. c. Shall produce an official transition report at the close of the term of office. d. Must NOT select a committee until he/she has thoroughly read and understands the CPC Operating Guidelines. e. Must serve this position as a two year commitment, effective immediately upon appointment and ending at the close of the operating year. Qualifications and Characteristics of a Convention Planning Committee Member: A Convention Planning Committee Chairperson Must have knowledge of the Boston, Massachusetts are Must be dedicated to advancing the mission and vision of the Society. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of the Society s operating policy and procedure Must demonstrate familiarity with the NSBE Annual Convention. Must attend all regularly scheduled committee meetings and the 2016 Annual Convention Must be able and willing to devote sufficient time to consistently fulfill the position duties. Must maintain contact with the NEB and WHQ staff to ensure viability and productivity. Must be able to allow others space for leadership and decision-making. Must perform assigned tasks in a timely manner to facilitate the orderly progression of convention planning. Must be dependable and dedicated. Must be self-motivated and an independent worker. Must be a strategic thinker while being both detail and result oriented. Must be able to work with various demographic levels and needs. Must be aware of own personal limitations. Must have knowledge of N.S.B.E. history. Must have knowledge of budget operating procedure Must be able to manage and lead a committee of 20 or more people Notice and Requirement: Please note that candidates for the National Convention Planning Committee Chairperson for the 42 nd Annual Convention in Boston, Massachusetts are required to be a "student member" of NSBE. Student members may be a Member or an Alumni Member as defined in the Constitution as long as they maintain full-time student status throughout their term. All candidates must graduate no earlier than May 2016 and be at least a Junior. In addition, you will need to provide full time student verification at the time of your appointment.

Please detail your previous financial/budget management experience (including the amount of the budget, designing budgets, making budget modifications, and making budgetary decisions when budget amounts are cut). 4. What leadership skills do you possess that allow you to efficiently manage a large committee of 20 or more members? 5.
