5 PROJECT BACKGROUND & SCHEDULE BACKGROUND In 2012, the TDSB Board approved the plans to redevelop the Davisville/ Spectrum property involving: A Surplus Declaration of.98 acres of the school property for residential development. This land disposition would fund the construction of a new 668 pupil placement school; With the announcement of funding from the Ministry of Education for the new replacement school in late 2015, the need to redevelop the school property no longer was required; Design has gone from integrated with development to a stand alone school on the site; 5
6 PROJECT BACKGROUND & SCHEDULE BACKGROUND New school will have: Accommodation for 731 students; Dedicated area for Spectrum Alternative School; Dedicated child care space (5 rooms) for 88 children from Infants up to Pre-school age; A City of Toronto funded Third Gymnasium; City of Toronto funded below-grade parking garage with 60 parking spaces that accommodates 40 parking spaces for school staff (during the school day). This parking garage will have direct access to the new school and a future Aquatic Centre (City of Toronto funded); The Toronto Lands Corporation (TLC) is currently negotiating an agreement with the City of Toronto to determine lease arrangements for the land for the Aquatic Centre and a shared use agreement for the facilities. 6
7 PROJECT BACKGROUND & SCHEDULE BACKGROUND Through the New School Review Process for the Replacement School the following milestones have been completed: Introductory Public Meeting was held on 20 September 2016; The New School Review Team (NSRT) signed off on the Site Plan layout on 14 December, 2016; The NSRT signed off on the School Design on 23 March 2017; and Site Plan Application was submitted to the City of Toronto on 1 May We are looking to this evening s Public Meeting as a chance to show the School Design, listen to community feedback, and to discuss time lines related to the Replacement School project. 7
