3 QUICKFACTS about mgc Founding History The Multicultural Greek Council was established in 2001 and over 10 years later still serves as a home for FSU's multicultural Greek community. Fraternities and Sororties In 2001, MGC started out with only 3 chapters on campus. Now we have a total of 10 active chapters. Purpose The purpose of the MGC is to unify and organize groups that seek to promote diversity and cohesion on campus and in the community, encourage cooperation and harmony among member organizations and other organizations on campus, become active within our community, provide educational programming and service for member organizations and the student body. Representation Here at Florida State, MGC consists of 4 fraternities and 6 sororities who represent a widely diverse population that highlights and embraces many different cultures around the globe. Logo & Slogan Our council takes pride in helping students find that home away from home and their place on FSU's campus. We have incorporated that idea into our slogan: "Where your story begins..." fsumgc.com

5 EXPANSION PROCEDURE Greetings, Thank you for your interest in becoming part of our fraternity and sorority life community here at Florida State University. The decision to open for expansion will be based on the current needs of the Multicultural Greek Council. Applications are open starting Spring 2017 and they will be due by February 6th at 5pm. There will be no applications accepted past the deadline. Once the application deadline has passed and all materials have been received from the national organization, the MGC expansion committee will make a decision on which organizations they will invite for presentations. This committee will be made up of individuals affiliated with our active member organizations, having representation from each organization. Once the expansion committee has reviewed the applications and evaluated the presentations of each petitioning organization, a decision will be made on which organizations to invite for colonization. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and MGC leaders will ensure that this information is communicated in a timely manner, and that all organizations are aware of their status in the process. Completion and submission of the application materials does not guarantee an invitation to colonize on our campus. Completion of a campus presentation also does not guarantee an invitation to colonize. All application materials can be submitted at: Applications must be received by the deadline indicated in the timeline.
