2 Public Works Committee Meeting May 14, 4:00 p.m. ROLL CALL Councilmembers Manuel Guerrero, David Day; Safety Coordinator Steve Konen, Maintenance Supervisor Dave Reynolds, City Administrator Tim Snead, City Engineer Ariel Belino and Jennifer Keenon. ITEM 1: Authorization to Call for Bid, 3 rd Avenue SE Sewer Main Replacement City Engineer Ariel Belino requested authorization to call for bid a sewer main replacement at 3 rd Ave SE. Proposed project will replace the existing sewer main that runs through (under the school building) Pioneer School, and will capture all the sewer discharge from the NE and SE portion of the city. However, the school will remain on the current line. Councilmembers Manuel Guerrero and David Day approved to take to council. ITEM 2: Authorization to Call for Bids, B Street NE Water Main Replacement City Engineer Belino requested authorization to call to bid B Street NE water main replacement. The replacement will consist of tying 3 rd Avenue NE to 6 th Avenue NE along B Street NE. A portion of the pipe collapsed when work was being done on it about 2 years ago. Councilmembers Guerrero and Day approved to take to council. ITEM 3: Pay Estimate #7, Halme Construction, Inc. Industrial Infrastructure Improvements Project City Engineer Belino requested approval to take Halme Construction, Inc. s pay estimate #7 to council for approval. Councilmembers Guerrero and Day approved to take to council. ITEM 4: Contract Amendment, PACE Engineers B Street NE Water Main Relocation City Engineer Belino reported that they are thinking of looping the piping that runs along 6th Avenue NE to the pipeline along E Street NE, to provide more pressure and volume in the line for fire suppression. No easement will be needed since the property was given to the City for a park. When the Arbor Plats development is constructed the looping will help with the flow of water to the development. Councilmembers Guerrero and Day approved to take to council. ITEM 5: Service Contract Agreement, Cascade Natural Gas Corporation Quincy Municipal Office Complex City Engineer Belino requested approval for a service contract agreement with Cascade Natural Gas for the Municipal Office Complex in the amount of $3, The amount was not originally budgeted but is not a large amount so City Engineer Belino and City Administrator Tim Snead agreed that the request could be approved within the committee. Councilmembers Guerrero and Day approved the service contract agreement with Cascade Natural Gas Corporation.

3 ITEM 6: Resolution Calling for a Public Hearing for the Proposed Transportation Improvement Program City Engineer Belino requested authorization to take to council for a public hearing. Councilmembers Guerrero and Day approved to take to council. ITEM 7: Public Works Authorization to Purchase Equipment Computers and Furniture Maintenance Supervisor Dave Reynolds reported that at the request of Mayor Jim Hemberry, he would like to purchase 4 new computers and 3 workstations. The computers will be used by the public works employees to clock in, read s, complete risk management trainings, etc. The 4 computers cost about $7, and the 3 work stations and chairs cost approximately $1, Councilmembers Guerrero and Day approved to take to council. ITEM 8: Halme Construction, Inc. Substantial Completion Industrial Infrastructure Improvements Project City Engineer Belino requested authorization to take to council issuing substantial completion to Halme Construction, Inc. Councilmembers Guerrero and Day approved to take to council. Committee Responsibilities 7 th Ave SW Parking at Cemetery (2013) Issue is being worked on in CPED meeting. City Administrator Snead and City Engineer Belino agreed to remove item from the Public Works meeting. Lift Truck Options/Purchase (2014) Maintenance Supervisor Reynolds reported this item is complete. Item to be removed from Public Works meeting. Radar Signs (2014) Maintenance Supervisor Reynolds reported this item is complete. Item to be removed from Public Works meeting. Meeting adjourned at 4:10pm.

FISCAL IMPACT: BARS CODE: ALTERNATIVES: STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Recommend to Public Works Committee for approval.
