1 WORD AROUND WEBB T e x a s A & M A g r i l i f e E x t e n s i o n Agents Corner Dear 4-H Members and Families, With the completion of 55th Annual Laredo International Fair & Exposition many of our 4-H families and members have a sense of relief and sadness. Relief, because they are glad it is over, sadness, because it was a blast and they will have to wait a whole year to participate in next year s L.I.F.E. Gazing back into my past, I remember my days as a 4-Her and can recall those same feelings of relief and sadness that I felt when my county livestock show was finished for the year. Those feelings of sadness would quickly fade however, because the spring season was approaching. When show season as I called it was over it was my official start of the exciting 4-H spring season. Spring is both a busy and exciting time for many 4-H families and County Extension Agents. It is the time in which new livestock projects will be purchased (Steers and Lambs) and many exciting and fun 4-H events such as shooting sports competitions, recorded book completions, district roundups, and livestock judging competitions will be occurring throughout the state and district. All of these events offer 4-Hers opportunities to sharpen vital skills in public speaking, recorded keeping, sportsmanship, and leadership. For our seniors the realization that they will not be returning to LI.F.E as exhibitors next year is also sad. As they transition from 4-H members to young adults I encourage all them to become volunteers and to pass on the knowledge they have gained through 4-H to our younger members.
