9 EU PROGRAMMES A large number of EU programmes on offer are some: - covering the overall Europe :THEMATIC PROGRAMMES (Creative Europe) - focusing on a particular geographical focus :EUROPEAN TERRITORIAL COOPERATION (INTERREG) - operating on a NATIONAL basis (ESIF). 9

10 CREATIVE AND CULTURAL INDUSTRIES CCIs represents 3% of the European GDP (ref. EC) CCIs employs 6.7 million people (3% of total employment) In UK : 1.71m jobs in 2013 or 5.6% of total UK jobs In UK : 8.8 million/hour and 76.9 billion economy in 2013 (ref. Official statistics from the UK Department of Culture, Media and Sport) Solent and Hampshire around 5000 creative industries Solent and Hampshire: 78 museums 10
