But there is still the thought and /or worry about the results that will take place. We have been in such a bad situation for such a long time with all of the unemployment that we have been experiencing. Hopefully everyone has gotten out to cast their all important vote. As always we need to make sure that all of Here we are November 3, 2010 and our new St. Louis County Plumbing Code along with Amendments are in effect. I would have to say that most of the code and amendments stayed the same, but at the same P R E S I D E N T S R E P O R T our families and friends are out voting for people who will help us get into office. I met last week with Jack Fischer, and 4 representatives from MSD regarding the new section of the code that will deal with the changes to Interceptors. The way the ing for. Some of our best leaders did not make it into office, although on the local level we did hold our own with Charlie Dooley and Pat Dolan winning in St. Louis County. We still need to do some work in the next two years. My understanding is there will more Senate seats on the Democratic side coming up and we need to work hard to keep everything we have and take back some more. S T. L O U I S C I T Y P L U M B I N G C O D E U P D A T E The St. Louis City Plumbing Code Review Committee meet the fourth Thursday of October and reviewed several sections of the amendments. All of the Appendix s were approved as amended, Section 2304 Residential Fire Sprinklers approved as amended, there was a new section added per the Chief Plumbing Inspector, Lead Water Lines. All damaged lead water services, residential, and / or commercial, shall be replaced entirely with copper or other acceptable material. Table 6-4-A was looked at and reviewed for PEX underground for service line. And Chapter 1 was reviewed and changes made were needed. This will be finalized at next meeting. st. L O U I S C O U N T Y P L U M B I N G C O D E U P D A T E C o n t i n u e d f r o m p a g e 1 happening the Plumbing Code Review Committee has put into the Amendments a new section, P-155, Interceptors Registration, Maintenance, and Inspection Required. It is in this section that I have been referring to. Under this new code change all interceptors will be inspected by Licensed Journeymen Plumbers under St. Louis County Plumbing Code. There are new titles or names for interceptors such as an inside grease trap as we called them are now Hydromechanical Grease Interceptors and a Grease Trap outside is a Gravity Grease Interceptor. There are several other changes that have been made and need to be looked from the plumber and contractor view point. At some point, within the next year, this will officially take place. MSD and St. Louis County are being ST. LOUIS COUNTY PLUMBING CODE AMENDMENTS SECTION P-155 given time to get everything setup and ready to operate. When this does happen there is going to be training that a licensed plumber is going to have to have in order to inspect these interceptors. This is what the meeting that I attended the other day was about. We, jack Fischer and myself wanted to meet with MSD and find out what their view point on inspections should include and what training qualifications they thought a plumber should have in order to inspect a interceptor. Over all the meeting went very well. I am in the process of developing a curriculum to use for this training and getting it approved through the St. Louis County Plumbing Board of Examiners. Once this is done it will be imperative for all journeymen to sign up this training to get this qualification that will be required. N E W S S T O R Y H E A D L I N E s t l p i p e l i n e Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562 has just had their launch of the stlpipeline on March 6, This is a project that has been worked on for several years by Pat Kellett; Business Manager, John O Mara; Asst. Business Manager, and Brian Chumley; Asst. to the Business Manager, along with many other people including the Training Center. With this new endeavor there is a call center , that an individual home owner or building owner can call to get in touch with a Plumbing Service Contractor, who is associated with Local 562, the PIC, and the MCA. The great thing about this is all of the Plumbers, Pipefitters, or Technicians are highly trained and very skilled in their trade. Along with the call center, there is a website that you can log onto for information. This is for those of us who are trying to get into the new technology and come out of the dark ages and for those that are already there. To help this project along, the local asked the Training Center to develop a training program for journeymen plumbers, at first, to make sure that the people that are sent to someone's home or business is fully trained. The first class started in January and the plumbers in- volved will go through 104 hours of thorough training. They will cover aspects of the trade such as Customer Relations, Cabling and Sewer Camera, Trouble Shooting Water Heaters, and Miscellaneous Fixtures repair. We hope that this will turn out to be one of the best projects the local union has ever been involved in. SO LET S GET THE WORD OUT!!!!
