1 Volume 5, Issue 1 March 2014 IBEW Local 890 s Newsletter BUSINESS MANAGER S REPORT LOCAL 890 OFFICERS Leo Pancho Sokolik, Business Manager/ Financial Secretary Jason Heidenreich, Referral Agent / Organizer Dan Uschan, President Justin Hesselbacher, Treasurer Don Kautz, Recording Secretary Dale Buchholz, Exec. Board Paul Clausen, Exec. Board Mike Duda, Exec. Board Marty Kelly, Exec. Board Brad Meglic, Exec. Board Bob Walters, Exec. Board Jim Anton, Exam Board Nick Bell, Exam Board Dan Schneider, Exam Board Inside this issue: Official Notice of IBEW Local 890 Nominations and Elections Wisconsin License Law 4 Book Report 4 Inside Wage Allocation 4 Benefits to Local 890 Members 5 2 & 3 Dear Members of Local 890: First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you who attended our annual mid-january Christmas/holiday party. I am sure I am speaking for all of the attendees by saying that we had a wonderful time. This event has always been well attended and this time was no different. All of the kids seemed to enjoy Bucky the clown and as always Santa delivered the presents. I saw lots of people laughing and catching up on times and just enjoying each other s company. We have already booked the facility and look forward to doing it all again in As we settle into this New Year I am positive I speak for all in saying I ve had enough of this snow and cold and winter can go away sooner rather than later. There is plenty of speculation regarding prospective jobs and projects in our jurisdiction. Some of these are being bid now; projecting work to begin mid to late summer. Let us hope that this speculation comes to fruit and our contractors secure the majority of the projects to keep our members busy. The rest of the state appears to say the same thing with the locals surrounding us reporting that there are many jobs being bid and the work outlook looks good. Local 890 Contractors reported a huge increase in man hours in 2013 and it looks like 2014 is probably going to be a better year. It s always nice to sit back and reflect on the past and hope and speculate on the future, but the one thing I can assure you, is that this office will continually work for the members to provide you with answers to your questions and whatever services you might need. We will continue to work with the Contractors and help in any way we can to gain work in Local 890. In closing I would like to wish all of the members and their families a happy and prosperous new year. Yours In Solidarity, Leo Pancho Sokolik

It will be up to the authority having jurisdiction (local electrical inspector) to enforce this law. I urge all of you to make the effort to get this license so that your ability to work is not in jeopardy. Please contact the hall if you need assistance in getting the required forms to get this license. This is not an April Fools like last year, please get your license.
