India has the largest record of million active borrowers with GLP equalling USD 6, million. Bangladesh remains to the second number with an increase of 3 million borrowers along with total GLP of USD 5,540 million. On the other hand, icrofinance in other South Asian countries also contributed a considerable increase in number of borrowers and GLP. The overall PAR (>30 days) has declined to 0.97% as compared to 1.63% observed in

4 In terms of icro-savings, the total number of depositors touched million with the value of savings equals to USD 3, million. Bangladesh remained on top by contributing 36 million depositors with the value of savings amounted to USD 3,027 million whereas Pakistan observed an increase of 5.88 million icro-savers. icro-insurance figures for the region exhibited a notable increase of million policy holders in the first half of 2015 by reaching 69.5 million policy holders and the sum insured was USD Billion. Like in icrocredit, India remains the largest contributor towards icro-insurance with policy holders and value of sum insured is USD 11, million. 3

5 ICROCREDIT PROVISION Number of Active Borrowers: The number of individuals who currently have an outstanding loan balance with financial institution(s) or are primarily responsible for repaying any portion of the gross loan portfolio. Active Borrowers = Current Borrowers - loans written off Gross Loan Portfolio: All outstanding principals due for all outstanding client loans. This includes current, delinquent, and renegotiated loans, but not loans that have been written off. GLP = Loans disbursed loans recovered write-offs Portfolio at Risk > 30 days: Represents the portion of loan(s) greater than 30 days past due (as a percentage of total loan portfolio), including the value of all renegotiated loans. 12 ICRO-SAVINGS PROVISION Number of Active Savers: The number of individuals who currently have funds saved with the FP. This number applies only to savings/deposits held by the FP, not those savings or deposits held in other institutions by the FP s clients. Value of savings: The total value of funds placed in an account with the FP that are payable to a saver/depositor. Individuals who are availing multiple insurance products should be counted as a single client. 19 GLOSSARY 1. Group ethodology: Group lending refers to the use of groups for disbursement of funds and collection of repayment on loans to either the group as a whole or to the individual members of that group. Borrowers of such groups often bear joint liability for the repayment of all loans to the group and its members. 2. Individual ethodology: A lending systems where loans are made to individuals, and any guarantee or collateral required comes from that individual. Loans based on consideration of the sole borrower, but disbursed through and recollected from group mechanisms, are still considered individual loans for this standard. 3. Urban: As defined by the Government of the respective country. 4. Rural areas include all those areas which are not urban. 5. Sector: 5a. Trade [General Store, Fruit (stall hawkers)] 5b. Services (Plumbing, mechanic, rickshaw) 5c. anufacturing/production (Cloth, carpet weaving, crafts, shoe production etc.) 5d. Housing (renovation, construction) 5e. Others (emergency, education) 6. Intermediated: Public deposits used to finance an organization s loan portfolio. Only regulated FPs (i.e. FBs) can accept and intermediate deposits from the general public. 7. obilized: FPs not regulated by the Central Bank or regulatory authority (FIs, RSPs) can neither hold, nor intermediate deposits from the general public. These organizations do however mobilize savings from their clients to place with licensed commercial banks. 8. Type of Insurance: 8a. Health (Hospitalization, Accidental Death etc.) 8b. Life (Insurance that covers the balance of an outstanding loan in case of the borrower's death) 8c. Other (Education etc.) 9. Fixed Office: Physical structures other than Head Office, i.e. regional office, branch office, sub-branch or settlement office, service centres. 10. obile Office: A fully functional branch on vehicle. 18
