A typical 25,000 five year variable interest rate loan will have 60 monthly repayments of , APR (Annual Percentage Rate) 4.50%. If the APR does not vary during the term of the loan the total cost of credit of this loan i.e. total amount repayable less the amount of the loan, would be *Available to most SMEs and Farmers subject to certain exclusions. Go to for the full list of exclusions. The support of the Governments SBCI Fund has state aid implications
9 Access to Credit At the simplest level the business has to demonstrate how it will repay the new facility sought 1. AIB has sufficient capital to meet all SME credit demands 2. Cash flow-focused lending Good credit decisions have to be informed by information on the current and future status of the business Borrowers must demonstrate viability 9
10 How Banks consider a Credit Application from an SME Other Considerations o Business owner sector experience o Management background o Timeliness/Reliability of information o Financial track record (business and owner) o Competitive position in the market o Concentration risk o Control over all aspects of the business (e.g. raw materials) Most banks will stress the application and scenarios to allow for unknown events (market and internal)
11 Four Steps When Applying For Credit Step 1 Come and talk to us regularly about your business Step 2 Prepare your business plan Tip! - Have your business plan validated by a 3rd party. Step 3 Be realistic, demonstrate your need, repayment capacity and ways to mitigate risk Step 4 Meet us to complete your application form Your RM is your advocate
