4 What are we looking for? Reports that demonstrate results and progress towards objectives How is it used? Basis for dialogue between donors and beneficiary states Basis for the Annual Meeting Basis for donor s Annual Report (published mid-year) 4
5 Timeline Annual deadline 31 March (3 countries have earlier deadlines) Reporting period = calendar year Subject to approval by FMC When annual meeting is scheduled later than 31 August, a brief update is required new template available! 5
6 The template Reporting on the year focus on: National level and programme area (sector level) assessments Reporting on Programmes: Where are you (baseline), and what do you want to achieve (targets)? Which changes/effects do you expect for the beneficiaries? Risks that may impede achieving the objectives 6

8 1. Executive Summary Should serve as a stand-alone document that gives a wider audience a clear overview Briefly point to the main results/trends, progress, issues and challenges encountered in the reporting period (previous calendar year) Write this section last 8
9 2. Assessment of the effect of the Grants 2.1 Cohesion «Assess the aggregated effect of the Programmes on reducing economic and social disparitities. To the extent possible use national statistics» 9
10 Tips for this section Use data and comparative analysis to point towards trends in your country or situate it against other countries. e.g. developments and trends in socio-economic and territorial disparities, including inter regional disparities below national level Put the Grants into context: short trend analysis related to the different priority sectors/programme areas/horizontal concerns of the Grants e.g. changes in the socio-economic situation, particularly where relevant for programme objectives and outcomes Include statistics that are relevant to the programme areas. Underline the rationale for targeting these sectors/areas/concerns Point to the Grants contribution (based on information in the Annual Programme Reports). 10

Compliance with the MoU: also provides space to notify of changes / modifications Our suggestion: remember to look forward, anticipate how legislation / policies may impact on results and timelines. 20
