4 ACS Purpose and Aims ACS was established to: Promote ship safety at sea and protection of marine environment Pursue improvement of ACS Members performance and their technical contribution to the international maritime community Promote the technical cooperation and enhance communication with the maritime community in Asia
5 Organization Executive Committee (EC) Secretariat (SO) Working Group (Quality) Technical Management Group (TMG) Working Group (Safety) Project Teams (PTs) Working Group (Environment) Project Teams (PTs)
6 ACS Activities Monitoring of the IMO Conventions and Regulations ACS monitors, through WG/Safety and WG/Environment, the development of the IMO Conventions and Regulations on issues of maritime safety and clean environment, in particular on any Asian concerned issues for necessary ACS actions
7 ACS Activities Establishment of PTs PT/BWM has been set up under WG/Environment to develop guidelines for the IMO requirements on BWM. PT/Fire Evacuation Analysis has been set up under WG/Safety to develop ACS common interpretation of the guidelines and recommendations for addressing the ambiguities.
8 ACS Activities Participation in MOU open forum ACS sends representatives/submits documents to Tokyo MOU PSCC and Indian Ocean MOU PSCC Open Forum to contribute/provide with ACS views on the Port State Control issues. ACS own seminar ACS Technical Seminars are held annually. Last seminar was held on 2 August 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia. ACS experts and invited speakers make presentation on technical and regulatory matters.
9 ACS Activities ACS guidelines and industry feedback ACS intends to enhance its activities to provide the international maritime communities, especially in Asian region, with guidelines and other technical documents relating to the IMO conventions and regulations Industry is asked to advise ACS on their needs for the ACS work and provide the feedback on the guidelines developed by ACS which was uploaded on the ACS website such as SCR system, Procurement and Installation of BWTS, Noises on Board Ships, EEOI and SEEMP.
10 Cooperation work with ASA and ASEF ACS maintain good & close relations with ASEF (Active Shipbuilding Experts Federation) and ASA (Asian Shipowners Association ) by: Participating in each other s annual meetings. Providing technical presentation and exchanging views at the various seminars and meetings.
11 Future Direction of ACS work Enhancing ACS Activities towards better Regulations to be developed at IMO in collaboration with Asian Partners
12 Future Direction of ACS work Keep monitoring of the development of discussions at IMO on technical and regulatory matters, especially of Asian industry s concerns. Promote the common understanding & position through the Administration in each ACS member s country. Consider the framework for regular meeting of the Asian organizations to enhance Asian voices in IMO.
13 Views/Ideas for Cooperation 1. ACS intends to enhance its activities related to IMO matters through the Working Groups on Safety/Environment. Industry is asked to advise ACS of the IMO matters of industry s concerns to discuss for the consolidated views/ideas of Asian maritime communities. 2. ACS will make technical contributions by providing materials to the industry, such as ACS Guidelines and other technical documents. Industry is asked to advise ACS on their needs for the ACS work and their feedback on the ACS Guidelines, which are uploaded on the ACS website.
