2 Enrichment Classes REGISTRATION ENDS Monday March 30th Registration link is below. Jackson s annual enrichment program will run on Mondays in April (6,13,20,27th) from 4:05-5pm. The program is free to all students. Classes will be assigned first come first serve. Zumba, Grades 3-5 Join licensed Zumba instructor Mrs. Bower as we learn to dance several styles of international dance Get ready to move-- wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle-- Zumba is fun for your body and your brain Limit 10. Healthy Choices, Grades 1-5 Have fun with Mrs. Warner learning about food groups, reading and understanding ingredients on food packages, making healthy snacks, differentiating between healthy/nutritious food and junk food. Limit 8. Game On, Grades 2-5 Mr.,Mrs. & Grandpa McMahan. Explore games involving math, strategy, deck building, worker placement, and drafting. This is not your momma s card club. You ll learn new and exciting games like Star Realms, Carcassone, Dixit, Wits & Wagers, and Timeline. Limit 15. Flag Football, Grades 2-5 Mrs. Musiol. Football basics including, how to carry the ball, how to throw the ball, how to catch, flag pulling, and basic offensive/defensive concept. There will be NO tackling. 8 SCRIP In an effort to save paper, we will be including the SCRIP order form in Thursday efolders, where you can print off a SCRIP form to send in with your order. You can always look at the SCRIP form and Lori (lori_a_weber@hotmail.com) or I (Cindy31470@aol.com) your order and we will process from there. You will still need to send in a check/cash with your child. As always, you can also refer to the web page for additional cards not offered on our order form. We are once again going to be exploring some online ordering/purchasing options. As the Shop With SCRIP site changes, new ways of ordering have begun. We will keep you posted with these exciting changes. To date, we have a profit of $1,300 for the IMC. Let s keep that number climbing. 11 JACKSON PTA FAQs What is the Jackson PTA? The Jackson PTA is a non-profit group of parents and teachers. We work together to support Jackson Elementary by providing additional resources when needed. We also work together to try to build a strong sense of Jackson school community. What programs does the Jackson PTA support? The Jackson PTA supports Jackson Elementary by supplying additional classroom needs like microphones. The PTA provides each teacher with $100 to spend on other classroom items. The Jackson PTA supports a school based technology fund. We also support the IMC with additional books and supplies. The Jackson PTA funds classroom field trips. We sponsor the 5 th Grade Recognition. The Jackson PTA provides funding for a week of volunteer staffed after school enrichment programs during the spring. We support America Reads week. The Jackson PTA sponsors a book fair. We pay for a guest reader to visit the school. The Jackson PTA offers a Community Caring Fund to help Jackson families in need. The Jackson PTA also supports the staff by providing conference lunches and by providing a staff appreciation celebration week. How does the Jackson PTA build a sense of School Community? The Jackson Elementary PTA helps build a sense of school community by organizing and funding fun events such as school movie night, swim night, the Halloween Hike, an ice skating event, a roller skating event, a night at the Kernel s, Breakfast with a Buddy, the Kindergarten breakfast and our Spring Carnival Event. How does the Jackson PTA fund these programs? The Jackson PTA funds these initiatives by having one large fundraiser in the fall and supplementing all programs by collecting box tops, collecting soup can labels, collecting Hy-Vee receipts, collecting pop tops, offering birthday books, offering SCRIP purchases and offering Hy-Vee Coupon Books purchases. How do I become a Jackson PTA Member? How do I volunteer? Becoming a member is easy Just fill out the form on the back of this flyer and pay your membership fee of $7 per person and $13 per couple.
