We have so many fun things planned for the year in fact, we have already started!!!! We had our first Fall Fun Night. This year we split them up and had the 2 nd -4 th graders event already. It was a great success thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and our PE teachers! We are all looking forward to the K-1 Fall Fun Night later this month. We also had our first Family Game Night. Lots of fun was had by all!! Every other year we hold a Tricky Tray event and this year it is March 4 th. Mark your calendars. This year is a bit different for the PTO and the JFK families. The school district has gone paper-less. This has proven to be challenging for all of us, but it is for the better. However, we need to ensure that you are signed up for JFK E-blasts. This is the only way you will receive information regarding our events. You could always visit our website too we post fliers, calendars, and important information you need to know. So, save the website to your favorites and visit it often. -Megan Vernak 1
2 Membership If you have not already signed up to become a PTO Member, please do so using the forms located on the PTO website. 4 Did you know that if you have a Target Charge Card or Debit Card, you could link the card to Target s Take Charge of Education program? If you link your card to JFK, we will receive a donation from Target based on the items you purchase. Some Target charge cards can be used anywhere. So, if you have one, please link it to JFK. Currently, we have 20 people linked to JFK. Let s strive to hit 25 this year! 5 Tricky Tray On March 4, 2011, JFK will be holding a Tricky Tray event. For anyone who is not familiar with Tricky Tray events, they are events in which donated items, ranging from flowers to trips, are auctioned off. People purchase raffle tickets and place them in the container for the item they d like to receive. One ticket is randomly picked from that container and the winner is announced at the event. The Tricky Tray takes many volunteers to make this a huge success. I am in need of the following: People to sell 50/50 tickets prior to the event (November March) People to sell 3 large prize Raffle tickets prior to the event (November March) People to package the baskets just prior to the event (January - February) Person to collect unused baskets (contacting funeral homes) (October January) People to coordinate decorations and to decorate the evening of the event (February March) People to coordinate the volunteers for the evening of the event (February March) People to run the baskets on the evening of the event (March 4 th ) People to sell prize tickets on the evening of the event (March 4 th ) Without your help, we will not be able to make this the success it has been in the past. Please contact Megan if you are interested in volunteering your time. makv407@yahoo.com Do you know anyone who owns a business and would like to donate an item(s) or service to the Tricky Tray auction? This is a great way to advertise and promote your business. If you do, please contact Megan at jfkptoraritan@gmail.com 5
6 Wear your school colors and show your school spirit while wearing a new tee shirt, sweat shirt, boy s shorts and girl s shorts...stay warm in our JFK sweat pants and crew neck sweatshirt. An order will be placed after the deadline for all new spirit wear. 6
