4 Improving online services for agents Timeline Private beta delivered November 2016 SAN outage occurred in December 2016 Planned Public beta April/May 2017 Planned go-live of online services for agents Tax Time
5 SAN outage Impacts to development efforts Improving online services project was put on hold. Development efforts were directed towards Tax Time 2017 to ensure system stability and performance to match the experience of Tax Time Simpler BAS was progressed as part of the legislative component to the small business concessionary threshold for Tax Time
6 Portal activity statement functionality Status update Activity statements are being successfully lodged using the updated portal functionality. Fixes are being implemented to address identified issues: access and user permissions issues. This was due to the new security framework that was implemented rules alignment eg the ability to lodge where DGST was zero form interface errors confirmation options not displaying. 6
7 Portal activity statement functionality Feedback We re hearing your feedback and are working to incorporate it into the portal activity statement functionality. Information included on the screen and within print: document ID/DIN GST accounting method receipt number. Ability to print a prepared instalment notice prior to lodgment. Display of BPAY details. 7

10 Portal activity statement changes Tax Time 2017 summary Implement Simpler BAS changes. Offer agents enhanced activity statement features, which were sourced from agent feedback. 10
11 Simpler BAS explained From 1 July 2017, Simpler BAS is the default reporting method for 2.7 million small businesses with a GST turnover of less than $10 million. Small business only need to report: G1 Total sales 1A GST on sales 1B GST on purchases. The following GST information is no longer required: G2 Export sales G3 GST-free sales G10 Capital purchases G11 Non-capital purchases. 11
12 Simpler BAS updates to Tax Agent Portal Changes to the Tax Agent Portal: removal of the requirement to re-elect GST reporting method on quarterly BAS reduction in GST labels on existing BAS form types to remove G2, G3, G10 and G11 (for small business with <$10m turnover). Simpler BAS can also be lodged via the following channels by tax practitioners: PLS (dependent on software provider) ELS (requires 0 inserted at G10 and G11) ECI (requires 0 inserted at G10 and G11) 12
