17 BCI SHOWED AN IMPORTANT INCREASE IN ITS INTERNATIONAL ASSETS AND FOREIGN PRESENCE DURING 2006, PARTICULARLY THE OFFICES IN MIAMI, MEXICO AND PERU. MIAMI Branch PERU Representative Office in Lima BRAZIL Representative Office in Sao Paulo MEXICO Representative Office in Mexico City CHINA Representative Office in Hong Kong SPAIN Office of Banco Popular Español COSTA RICA Banco Internacional ARGENTINA Banco Credicoop Coop. Ltda. The international markets in 2006 remained extremely liquid, with an extraordinary demand for foreign assets. In this context, Bci showed a strong increase in its international assets and external presence, providing financial support to banks and companies in emerging countries. Noteworthy was the participation of Bci in a syndicated loan granted to a bank in Lithuania, being the first Chilean and Latin American bank to take part in this kind of financing to a country in Eastern Europe. On the other hand, Bci has entered new foreign markets, granting loans to banks in Russia and Kazakhstan, which diversifies its international coverage but with the risk controlled. Bci s foreign offices had a successful year, particularly the Miami branch and the Mexico and Peru representative offices, which substantially increased their loans and generated significant revenues for the Bci Corporation. The professional team responsible for the foreign offices has great experience and excellent professional qualities that permit granting a good service to customers in Chile and abroad who operate with the Bci offices abroad

In May 1999, Federal Reserve Board and the State of Florida authorized Bci to open an agency in Miami. Bci was the first Latin American bank to obtain a banking license to operate in the U.S.A. in ten years, and the first Chilean bank in twenty years. In December 2001, Bci was authorized by the Florida State authorities to convert the agency license to a branch license, being the first foreign bank authorized to maintain branches in the state. The Bci Miami Branch can provide all kinds of financial products and services to international customers and also to Americans. After seven years in business, Bci Miami Branch is one of the ten largest international banks in the State of Florida. The branch is located in Brickell Avenue, Miami City, and offers products and services to Latin American and American individuals, legal entities and financial institutions. The branch has been innovative in offering different kinds of structured deposits and international charge cards, plus traditional services like checking accounts, time deposits, financial investments and credit and charge cards. It also offers financing with loan, factoring, forfaiting, bills discounting and all types of foreign trade products. The branch has 32 fully bilingual staff with plenty of experience in the international market, which enables them to provide customers with a personalized service. As of December 31, 2006, the branch had assets of USD million and deposits of USD million. The net income amounted to USD 2.2 million. This is a positive result that reverses the loss situation shown in the figures for the previous year and reduces the accumulated losses by 50.7%. Representative Office in Lima, Peru Av. Prado y Aliaga 699 Office 203 A Representative: Mónica Saba Chaluja Bci s Representative Office in Peru began its operations in September 2000 to attend Chilean companies linked to that country which has a large volume of investments from Chile. With the passage of time and the expansion of its activities, Bci Peru has broadened its horizons, adopting a more extensive credit policy which has enabled it to attend top-class Peruvian companies, with which it has positioned itself among the principal representative offices in Peru. During 2006, the Representative Office in Peru took an active part in Bci s strong loan growth in that country, as a result of the excellent commercial relations with Peruvian banks and companies, as well as subsidiaries of Chilean companies operating there. Participating in the financing of trade between Chile and Peru has permitted Bci to acquire loans deriving from the placement of goods and services in Peru. In addition, and using Bci s network of representative offices abroad, it has managed to obtain business related to trade between Peru, Chile, U.S.A. and Brazil. Close relations with the local banks have also enabled Bci to provide shared financing of Peruvian companies. The representative office has continued to provide advice to Chilean companies established in Peru, and to companies contemplating entry into this market, as the economic prospects of Peru are attractive for the foreign investor
Banco de Crédito del Perú A cooperation agreement came into effect in 1995 between the controlling shareholders of Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP), the principal bank in Peru, and the controlling shareholders of Banco de Crédito e Inversiones (Bci). The agreement covers a term of twelve years, with the chairman of BCP, Dionisio Romero Seminario, being a director of Bci, and Luis Enrique Yarur Rey, chairman of Bci, a director of BCP. The agreement is to develop commercial activities in the Chilean and Peruvian markets, basically focused on operating through local-functioning companies. The agreement also contemplates the coordination of the operations of those customers of any office of either of the two financial institutions having trading relations with entities that operate in the other. The agreement has been complemented by the exchange of technical assistance and training between the two institutions. This cooperation has been especially directed to the joint financing of top-class Peruvian companies and participation in Peruvian trade missions to Chile, in order to know the Chilean experience of its free-trade agreements and provide a mutual knowledge of small and medium-sized business in both countries. Representative Office in Sao Paulo, Brazil Av. Paulista th floor Conj. 91 CEP Cerqueira Cesar Sao Paulo SP Representative: Fernando Flaquer The Representative Office in Brazil, since its opening in 2000, has concentrated on financing banks in that country, and trade between Chile and Brazil and between Brazil and the rest of the world. Bci has continued to participate in the granting of guarantees required by Brazilian banks to cover the presentation of bids or carrying out of industrial and infrastructure projects that Brazilian companies offer to carry out in Chile. The good performance of the Brazilian economy has enabled Bci to participate directly in financing granted to Brazilian companies, shared with Brazilian banks. The representative office provides support and advice to Chilean companies that plan to enter or are established in Brazil, as well as Brazilian companies wanting to operate in Chile. Representative Office in Mexico City, Mexico Julio Verne 42 Colonia Chapultepec Polanco Cod. Postal México DF Representative: Roberto Olivieri On June 16, 2004, Bci obtained authorization to open a Representative Office in Mexico by the Mexican financial authorities. Bci s strategy at the outset was to participate in the US dollar syndicated loans market for Mexican companies, as a first step in achieving fast portfolio growth and a presence in the local market, without forgetting Chilean companies established in Mexico or Chilean exporters, quickly achieving a break-even for the representative office s results. Since the start, the customers were top-level Mexican companies that offer attractive returns, and then, following a drop in spreads globally, financing directed also to larger corporate customers. Financing is currently focused on Mexican companies and corporations with high export volumes, preferably to Chile and North America, while maintaining financial support for Chilean exporters. At the close of 2005, the representative office was involved in loans of USD 74 million, whereas this figure had risen to USD 115 million by the end of 2006, with a mix of short and long-term financing. Representative Office in Hong Kong, China Suite 2008 Unit 8 Tower I Lippo Centre 89 Queensway Central Hong Kong Representative: Francisco Soler The first representative office of a Chilean bank in Asia was opened in October 2005, Bci taking an important step toward the continent with the greatest growth and economic development potential. In its first year of operations, the office has taken advantage of having direct access to the area of the world with the most dynamic and fastest growing economy, and to which a third of Chile s exports are directed, which is much appreciated by Chilean companies trading with that region. In fact China, the engine of the region, represented just 2.3% of Chilean exports and is placed seventeenth among Chile s export markets. In 2005, exports and imports reached a record level of USD 7,138 million which has transformed China into our second largest trading partner, passing European countries like the United Kingdom and Latin American countries like Brazil. Under Hong Kong legislation, Bci s representative office can provide advisory services to customers in aspects like business opportunities, investments, the establishment of companies in the area and attracting business to Chile through the correspondent banks channeling business through Bci. Bci s operational projections should benefit from the free-trade agreement signed between China and Chile, opening up a range of possibilities for operating, from the opening of an account to arranging financing through advice and the management of foreign trade instruments
Banco Internacional de Costa Rica The cooperation agreement between Banco Internacional de Costa Rica (BICSA) and Bci was signed in 2002 to increase trade between Chile and Costa Rica and to promote reciprocal investments. As a result of this agreement, an interesting exchange of information on customers and business has occurred, reinforcing the commercial relations between both institutions. Maintaining a fluid relationship with this bank, and with its subsidiaries in Central America, has permitted a better knowledge of the financial markets in Costa Rica and the region. Office of Banco Popular Español in Bci and vice versa Under this agreement, there has been an exchange of information on operating and commercial processes, with an accent on business prospects in Central America, taking into account the region s negotiations with U.S.A. for a free-trade agreement. Banco Credicoop Coop. Ltdo., Argentina The cooperation agreement signed in 1996 between Banco Popular Español and Bci contemplated the opening of an office of Bci in the premises of that bank in Spain, which occurred in In 2003, Bci signed a cooperation agreement with Banco Credicoop Coop. Ltdo., Argentina, to provide services to Chilean companies entering the Argentine market and Argentine companies setting up in Chile. This agreement has enabled Argentine companies installed in Chile to become customers of Bci, and facilitated relations with these companies through knowing them better. The Chilean office in that important Spanish bank is managed by Víctor Aguilar Zafora. Since the beginning of the cooperation agreement, Banco Popular Español installed an office in the premises of Bci in Santiago, Chile, under the responsibility of Ignacio Garrido Bermúdez, a manager of the Spanish bank. The agreement seeks the development of trade between Chile and Argentina, which has translated into a substantial increase in transactions with Bci, as a result of the degree of satisfaction that Chilean and Argentine customers feel. An interesting exchange of transactions and customers has therefore been maintained, as well as excellent commercial relations and of friendship between Bci and the Argentine bank. The principal objective of the Bci office in Banco Popular Español is to cover commercially the head offices of Spanish companies having a presence in Chile, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and U.S.A., in order to deepen relationships with them or attract new customers. The maintenance of an office of Banco Popular Español in Chile and of Bci in Spain, under an agreement that has lasted for ten years, facilitates transactions that both banks promote in their respective host countries
2025 THE EXPERIENCE OF SEVENTY YEARS ENABLES US TO PROJECT OURSELVES CONFIDENTLY INTO THE FUTURE. 70 years Being part of the lives of our customers, which we continue in the future Since its birth in 1937, Bci has always looked to future, constantly concerned about finding all possible ways for advancing, developing and innovating its activities to the benefit of the levels comprising its mission. When we plan the future therefore we imagine a world in constant movement, in which there will be new technological changes and progress. The Bank will be prepared all the time, through a constant intelligent connection network to meet the banking needs of its customers This constant search for solutions and services will therefore continue in the future so that the new generations symbolized in this young girl will be sure that Bci will always provide their financial service needs.
