1 EXECUTIVE BOARD WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION ORGANISATION MONDIALE DE LA SANTÉ INDEXED EB43/15 3 January 1969 Forty-third Session Provisional agenda item 3,5 REVIEW OF THE PROPOSED PROGRAMME AND BUDGET ESTIMATES FOR j/ш. r-f 1 Introduction Report by the Director-General 1.1 Under provisional agenda item 3.4, the Director-General is reporting to the Board on the supplementary estimates required for 1969 in order to give effect as from 1 January 1969, to the revisions in the salaries and allowances of the professional and ungraded categories of staff and in the maximum amount of the education grant, as recommended by the International Civil Service Advisory Board (ICSAB) and approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations 1 «Budgetary implications for In accordance with Financial Regulation 3.8, the Director-General reports that the estimated additional requirements to meet the costs in 1970 of the revisions in the salaries and allowances of professional and ungraded categories of staff amount to $ , which is the net increase required after taking into account the decrease under other statutory staff costs resulting from the incorporation into the new salary scales of the equivalent of one post adjustment class». The estimated additional requirements to meet the 1970 costs of the increase in the maximum amount of the education grant is $ ,.3 The total estimated additional requirements for 1970 to give effect to the abovementioned decisions of the General Assembly of the United Nations is $ to Parts II and III of the proposed effective working budget for $ will need to be added to Appropriation Section 10: Transfer. 2 EB43/15 page.4 The additional costs to WHO in 1970 of giving effect to the revisions in the salaries of professional and ungraded categories of staff and in the maximum amount of the education grant have not been included in the proposed programme and budget estimates for 1970 as contained in Official Records, No Consequently, the Director-General proposes that the above amounts required for these purposes be added to the proposed budget for 1970,.5 The "Summary Table Showing Total Budget, Income, Assessments and Effective Budget" appearing on page 11 of Official Records, No. 171, and the table showing "Scales of Assessment for 1968, 1969 and 1970" appearing on pages 1 and 13 have been revised to provide for the additional requirements referred to above. The revised tables are contained in annexes 1 and, respectively.
