2 The Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA) The Blockchain in Transport Alliance (or BiTA) is a consortium of the foremost leaders in the in the supply chain forging a path towards industry standards in blockchain use. All companies within BiTA share a unified mission of developing a standards framework, educating the market on blockchain applications, and encouraging the use of said applications through exemplary implementation. BiTA will provide a forum for members to share best practices, network, learn and grow. Through think tanks events, webinars, and online collaboration members will have the ability to network with their peers.

3 BiTA: A Community & Standards Organization BiTA Core focus is on community aspects such as networking, education, marketing and commercial outcomes Will serve as the voice of BiTA to external organizations and stakeholders Technology agnostic but focused on interoperability between solutions BiTA standards will be open source, royalty free BiTA Standards Council Forum specific to developing industry standards & best practices Focus will be on data formats and interoperability of blockchain platforms. A separate 501(c)(6) industry association governed by a standards board

8 What is Blockchain? A decentralized and distributed digital ledger to record transactions across many computers so that the record cannot be altered retroactively without the alteration of all subsequent blocks and the collusion of the network.

9 The Road to Failure is Paved with Good Intentions Blockchain is: a data storage, delivery and validity enforcing system a platform, a blank canvas for you to build stored data masterpieces not free. Retrofitting legacy applications is, as always, expensive, and the cost must be taken into account. Blockchain is not: an application, it is not big data and it is not a product the world repository for all information ever generated. There is no blockchain police that will visit your company make you share all of your data for the world to see. You share what you agree to share -- as much or as little as you or your company is comfortable sharing on blockchains.

10 What This Means For The Supply Chain World Many early adopters of blockchain technologies appear to be in search of a problem to solve As with many industries, the supply chain industry is struggling with legacy protocols including electronic data interchange (EDI) For the past fifteen years, XML and application programming interface (API) integrations have been seen as the next logical step adoption has been slow due to the lack of a basic return on investment BiTA s goal is to avoid the challenges EDI faces today The cost of cleaning up existing data cannot be underestimated (before loading it into any blockchain solution). Blockchain is a proven commodity, although admittedly in its infancy.

Are there problems caused by the use of a central/third party entity? Do transactions depend on/interact with each other? If the answers to these questions are yes, this might be a solid use case.

Commercialization Blockchain applications code are generally open source and can be utilised anonymously, so IP is difficult to prote ct.
