2 Introduction of three (3) new CHESS Exception Indicator Values Effective 23 April 2012, ASX ReferencePoint Master List product will start disseminating select information on securities quoted on approved listing market operators - to be referred to as ALMO securities. Select information to be disseminated in the ReferencePoint Master List product will only be for those securities that will be settled through the ASXCHESS system. This is underpinned by a settlement facilitation service agreement between each ALMO and ASX Settlement Corporation. To distinguish ALMOs and their securities, each ALMO will be assigned a specific CHESS Exception Indicator value. The three (3) new values are: A indicates that the security is quoted on the Asia Pacific Exchange (APX) V indicates that the security is quoted on the Sim Venture Exchange (SIM) N indicates that the security is quoted on the National Stock Exchange (NSX; formerly known as the Newcastle Stock Exchange) As ALMO securities are not quoted and not traded on ASX Markets, these will have a Quoted Security Indicator (QSI) value of 4 assigned to it and this value will be disseminated in the ReferencePoint Master List product effective 23 April Quoted Security Indicator value 4 new description: 4 Unquoted and Not Tradable; Approved Listing Market Operator (ALMO) security i.e. National Stock Exchange, Asia Pacific Exchange, Sim Venture Exchange Refer to Appendix 1 for updated Quoted Security Indicator data field description. The CHESS Exception Indicator data field is disseminated in the ReferencePoint Master List SK, SL, SM & SO messages. The Quoted Security Indicator data field is disseminated in the ReferencePoint Master List SK, SL & SM messages. Introduction of new Trade Condition Code OC Subject to regulatory clearance, ASX will offer an Over-The-Counter (OTC) clearing service for Equity and Index Options. First phase of this offering is planned to go live on Monday 30 April In relation to this new service, a new trade condition code OC will be introduced (also subject to regulatory clearance) to allow for off-market crossing of the Equity leg in the contingent OTC deal. 3 Additional clarification relating to the SP & SQ messages in the ReferencePoint Master List E01 & E02 files and the new E20 file Provided below are additional clarification relating to the SP & SQ messages: File Content Indicator data field value in the SP & SQ messages in the new E20 daily ETOs & ASX Futures complete security download file As advised in the ASX Market Information Bulletin 06/12 (page 2), the File Content Indicator data field value will always be 1 for complete download. This means that this file will not have the following functionalities: - Identify securities that have been deleted/removed (File Content Indicator 4 in the E02 securities update file). - Identify new securities (File Content Indicator 3 in the E02 securities update file) - Changes in the value of any of the data fields in the message (File Content Indicator 2 in the E02 securities update file) Removal of the SP & SQ messages from the ReferencePoint Master List E01 and E02 files As also advised in the ASX Market Information Bulletins 02/12 & 06/12, the SP & SQ messages will be removed in the E01 & E02 files in Mid-Late 2012, the exact date to be advised in a bulletin. Hence, the SP & SQ messages will continue to be part of the E01 & E02 files up to the date before the confirmed removal date. The new E20 daily ETOs & ASX Futures complete security download file is a replacement file being made available to customers to be the source of ETOs & ASX Futures Contract securities details once these are removed from the E01 and E02 files. The new E20 file will be available to customers from 23 April 2012 in preparation for the change. 4 Appendix 1 Data Definitions CHESS Exception Indicators Bytes Format 1, occurs 10 times Alphanumeric Single character code indicating CHESS exception conditions for a security. Valid Values A = Indicates that the security is quoted on the Asia Pacific Exchange(APX). C = Indicates the security is a CHESS Depositary Interest (CDIs) F = Indicates the security is subject to foreign ownership restrictions and that the issuer has agreed to administer such Foreign Ownership restrictions through CHESS N = Indicates that the security is quoted on the National Stock Exchange (NSX; formerly known as the Newcastle Stock Exchange P = Personal Identification Number (PIN) is mandatory for Issuer Sponsored CHESS Transactions. S = Shareholder reference number is mandatory on certificated to/from CHESS transactions V = Indicates that the security is quoted on the Sim Venture Exchange (SIM) Quoted Security Indicator Bytes 1 Format Numeric An indicator identifying the quote and trading status of a security. Valid Values 0 = Quoted and Tradable 1 = Unquoted but Tradable 2 = Unquoted and Not Tradable Issues, e.g. Non-Renounceable, or Options Entitlements or restricted (escrowed) securities. (Applies to all restricted securities which are included in Market Capitalisation calculations.
