US President Donald Trump has announced plans to levy hefty tariffs on aluminum and steel imports igniting fears of retaliation from its trade partners triggering a trade war. Nifty closed at IT stocks were than the major gainers of the day while Metals shares were the major losers of the day. Nifty Global Markets Update European shares inched up on Monday, held back by heavy losses among Italian stocks after a bigger than expected surge in support for anti-establishment parties in Sunday's election. After hitting a 6-month low at the open, the pan-european STOXX 600 index was up 0.3%. Vericel Corp is projected to report quarterly loss at $0.07 per share on revenue of $18.76 million. State-owned construction firm NBCC has received an order worth Rs 192 crore from Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) for construction and development of a township in Gurugram. State-owned Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has reduced its stake in Hinduja Group flagship firm Ashok Leyland by 2.04 per cent after selling 5.97 crore shares in the open market. Global Markets Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Gas & Water, Warehousing and Communication sectors led shares lower. At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.67% to hit a new 3-months low. Philippines stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking & Financials, Holding Firms and Services sectors led shares lower. At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite declined 0.86% to hit a new 1-month low. South Korea's benchmark Kospi slipped 0.23 percent. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 traded lower by 0.3 percent.
