3 For the past 350 years, in the historical factory in Pratrivero, in Piedmont, the wool mill of Vitale Barberis Canonico has been creating prestigious textiles for the garment industry. There are more than 400 employees, 40 agents throughout the world, 2 state-of-the-art factories in the Biella region. The company is among the top ones across the world producing prestigious textiles completely Made in Italy in terms of value and quantity and it is the largest exporter on a global level. Heritage, Innovation and Elegance are the key words of the Vitale Barberis Canonico philosophy. In 2013, production reached 7 million metres, and the turnover rose to 105,5 m (in contrast to 103 m in 2012). In October 2013 it became a member of the international club Les Hénokiens reserved for family companies with at least two hundred years history. Vitale Barberis Canonico has always paid great attention to the quality of the wools used, and for this reason it collaborates with the best farmers, seeking to help them achieve excellence. For this reason, we are proud to announce a new and exciting initiative as a tangible demonstration of our profound appreciation of the wool growers valuable work: the Vitale Barberis Canonico Wool Excellence Award. 3

5 Vitale Barberis Canonico Wool Excellence Award a recognition of excellence in wool The vitale barberis canonico wool excellence award is designed to encourage the professional wool grower. It will reward producers of wool clips that exhibit excellence in line with the exacting fibre and preparation standards set by the Vitale Barberis Canonico Company. The Award will be managed by Vitale Barberis Canonico with the support of its procurement agent in Australia, New England Wool Pty Ltd. This Award promotes sustainable production of superfine saxon wool with a particular emphasis on wool produced under natural pastoral and grazing conditions and with the highest regard for the environment and the animal. The wool excellence award focuses on the entire clip, thus giving recognition and support to producers of commercial quantities of high quality wool prepared to Vitale Barberis Canonico requirements. All Australian wool growers who have supplied their wool to Vitale Barberis Canonico within the wool selling season (1st July 30th June) will be eligible for this prestigious Award. Winners will be announced at a gala function attended by a representative of Vitale Barberis Canonico. 5

6 PRIZES Vitale Barberis Canonico is pleased to offer to recipient of the vitale barberis canonico wool excellence award the following: I Place a) Return Business Class airfares to Italy including exclusive tours of the Vitale Barberis Canonico plants located in the Biella region. b) A monetary reward equivalent to the full delivered value of the wool purchased from the winning clip by Vitale Barberis Canonico, in the particular year of the Competition, with a minimum of A$10,000 and a maximum of A$50,000. 8 AWA R D C R I T E R I A 1. The award is open to all suppliers of Superfine wool, as long as the wool is grown under paddock conditions. 2. Clip shall be classed to standards set down by the Australian Wool Exchange Code of Practice and shall be classed by a registered Owner Classer or Professional Classer. 3. Only PR declared wool is eligible for the award if coming from a mulesed clip. Properties must have been using a registered Pain Relief product for a minimum of three years to be eligible. Those entrusted by Vitale Barberis Canonico will ensure that all sustainable production criteria are adhered to which may involve asking for relevant documentation to be supplied. In particular, the finalists may be requested to provide a statement declaring the use of a Registered Pain Relief product on relevant mobs. 4. Growers must have completed a National Wool Declaration (NWD) and this must accompany the clip being assessed. 5. All finalists will need to complete the SustainaWOOL Documentation issued by New England Wool, on behalf of its clients. This document will cover all aspects of Animal Welfare and Care for the Environment. 6. Winners of the wool excellence award will be ineligible to receive the prize for five (5) years from the date they received their initial award. 8
