2 Weekly Market Report (15th 19th)January Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) Arab Bank s decline overshadows ASE s general index ASE s general index closed the week at points compared to last weeks closing of points thus declining by almost 0.8% in a continuation of the downward trend initiated since the beginning of 2012, whereby losses have so far been recorded at 2.8% compared to last year s closing of points. On a different level, the shares of Arab Bank (ARBK) underwent intense selling, causing the strategic stock to drop to JD7/share, which has recently been acting as a support level for ARBK. This decline of 2% recorded during the week took its toll on ASE s general index, especially in terms of traders sentiment. The ASE s heaviest stock of ARBK has shed 10% since the ended 2011 as it was recorded at JD7.85. Moving on to market indicators, the average daily trading value stood at JD7 million, while 180 shares were traded, of which 66 shares managed to incline compared to the decline of another 80 shares. 3 Corporate News (1 of 2): Jordan Islamic Bank (JOIB): The Bank signed a JD125 million financing agreement with the National Electric Company, whereby the former grants necessary financing for purchasing cables, generators, oil derivatives and all necessities. All loans are granted by the government. Falcon for Investment and Financial Services (FIFS): The Company s BOD decided during its first meeting in 2012 to invest JD1.5 million in an ASE stock portfolio and appointing the company s chairman to be in charge of running the said portfolio. Also, the company s BOD decided to hold the company s extraordinary general assembly on 4/2/2012 in order to discuss the acquisition of Nouran Hotels & Resorts which owns a stake of million JD/ share in Ayam Al Shams s capital estimated at JD/ share 16 million. The latter company solely owns Al Wadi Resort located at the Dead Sea. Moreover, the company is to add yet an additional clause to its main objectives that facilitates the financing of the company s subsidiaries and affiliates in addition to considering changing the company s name. The Industrial Commercial & Agricultural (ICAG) The Company s extra ordinary general assembly decided on 14/1/2012 to elect a new BOD and amend its letter of incorporation to contracting in accordance to Islamic Compliance. Middle East Complex for Eng., Electronics & Heavy Industries (MECE): The Company announced that the executive committee for the Montreal Fund approved phase one of the national strategy to rid hydrochlorocarbon, therefore, the company is to replace its production lines for US$1.36 million after signing with the International Bank, which is acting supervisor for the national strategy 3 3

4 Economic & Financial News: The revised and approved version of the Executive Development Program showed a total of JD105 million in projects to be offered for financing during year 2012 while total projects cost for years 2012 and 2013 is estimated to reach JD223.8 million. The Economic Horizons report for year 2012 issued by the International Bank estimates that Jordan s GDP will continue its decline for the 3rd year in a row as it is estimated to reach 1.7% for the current year compared to 2.5% recorded during 2011 and to elevate to 3% during Activity Summary Sector volume %Chg Contribution value (JD) %Chg.
