7 Defined Contribution Plan The ECASD Defined Contribution plan is an annual contribution into an HRA earmarked to assist in payment of Medical and/or Dental premiums after retirement. All employees working less than full-time shall have their defined contribution prorated to correspond to their work day. The amount deposited will reflect the employee s full-time equivalency on the date the contribution is made to the HRA account. All employees working under emergency contracts who are rehired the following school year on a regular contract will have their defined contribution created at such time as they become a regular employee. Such employees will be given credit for that emergency service toward the defined contribution, including interest. 7
8 Defined Contribution Plan (continued) TEACHERS Teachers hired on or after 07/01/2008 and who retire from the District and are at least 56 years of age and have completed at least 15 years of local teaching/administering in the District, will receive a district contribution to an HRA account of $2,500 for each year of local teaching/administering (plus interest at the applicable federal rate (AFR) each June 30). ADMINISTRATORS Administrators hired on or after 07/01/2008 and who have completed five years of service to the District, will receive an annual district contribution to an HRA account of $5,000 for each of the first five years of employment at a maximum of $25,000 (plus interest at the applicable federal rate (AFR) each June 30). 8
9 Defined Contribution Plan (continued) NON-AFFILIATED EMPLOYEES Non-Affiliated Employees hired on or after 07/01/2008 and who have completed five years of service to the District, will receive an annual district contribution to an HRA account of $3,000 for each of the first five years of employment at a maximum of $15,000 (plus interest at the applicable federal rate (AFR) each June 30). BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS EMPLOYEES Building and Grounds employees hired on or after 07/01/2010 and who have completed five years of service to the District, will receive an annual district contribution to an HRA account of $3,000 for each of the first five years of employment at a maximum of $15,000 (plus interest at the applicable federal rate (AFR) each June 30). 9

CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES Classified Employees hired on or after 07/01/2012 and who have completed five years of service to the District, will receive an annual district contribution to an HRA account of $3,000 for each of the first five years of employment at a maximum of $15,000 (plus interest at the applicable federal rate (AFR) each June 30). 10

12 Tax Sheltered Annuities 403b 457 Employees (working at least 20 hours per week) may authorize payroll deductions to fund their retirement income through a 403(b) plan. A nominal fee is charged for this service. A listing of vendors is available on the Spokeskids website Employees (working at least 20 hours per week) may authorize payroll deductions to fund their retirement income through a 457(b) plan. Vendor for this plan is Security Benefit. There is no fee for this service. 12
13 RETIREMENT Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) Eligible = 440 hours if worked at participating WRS employer prior to 7/1/11 or 880 hours if worked at participating WRS employer on or after 7/1/11 and be employed at least 365 consecutive days. 13.2% total Employee Portion = 6.60% 6.60% = paid by employee Employer Portion = 6.60% 6.60% = paid by district 13
14 Life Insurance Unit = annual salary rounded up to the nearest $1,000 Basic unit -paid by district Additional units (up to 3) paid by employee Spouse and Dependent paid by employee Unit 1 = $10,000 on spouse and $5,000 on each dependent costs $1.75 per month Unit 1&2 = $20,000 on spouse and $ 10,000 on each dependent costs $3.50 per month 14
15 Qualifying Events You have 30 days to make changes to your insurance plan or add insurance, in the event of: Marriage Birth Adoption Divorce Loss of previous coverage Increase in FTE 15
16 Insurance Contributions Employees with.75 FTE or greater are eligible for benefits. Each eligible employee will receive a district contribution towards medical & dental insurance. For the Plan year the district contribution is 87.4% of the HMO premium for all employees. 16
17 Insurance Deductions Each employee is responsible for paying the difference between the insurance premium and the district contribution. When possible, this amount is deducted from the employee s pay. Amounts deducted are automatically deducted pre-tax (to save you money) 17
18 Insurance Coverage Coverage begins on date of hire Coverage ends June 30 th Employees must complete online open enrollment to continue coverage beyond June 30 th, if eligible to continue. 18
