3 PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES These programmes were started in 1985 and 1989, as complementary services of the social security benefits. The quality of life of the elderly Preservation of employment Boosting economic activity
4 PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES Sustainability. Good value for money, because of economies of scale. Stability for the tourism sector. Active employment policy. Sustainability of the programmes. Citizens using the Programmes. Business-owners, by encouraging tourism activities in the low season, avoiding the closure of hotels and increasing the usage of transport and other supplementary activities, generating greater economic activity. Employees, by guaranteeing their jobs during the low season. Other public authorities, through the signature of partnership agreements with local councils and other organisations to incorporate users within the Programmes

6 HYDROTHERAPY PROGRAMME INNOVATIONS New Ministerial Order, of : Social/healthcare benefit In spas with medicinal mineral waters declared of public use Incorporates new target groups in the Programme Regulates services, funding systems, instructions on the development of each season. New contracts: The new Specifications for the procedure in progress: 2 years with possible extension: No. of places: 210,000 No. of spa establishments: 105.

8 INNOVATIONS IN THE SELECTION OF THE TARGET GROUP Book places depending on which province the users come from. APPLICATIONS: they can choose different date and spa or area options TWO PERIODS: FEBRUARY- JUNE JULY-DECEMBER With applications received Application of scale Flexibility. The spas have access to the computer application.

10 PLANNING OF THE COMING SEASONS OF THE SOCIAL HYDROTHERAPY PROGRAMME In establishments which have access to a spa of medicinal mineral waters declared of public use. Contracting places for the Programme each season: available budget That meet the requirements established by the respective autonomous community to be considered as Spa and are running open to the public. That they have at least a two-star hotel establishment, with restaurant service and lounges for performing different free-time activities. That the company s corporate purpose includes Spa management and meets the requirements to be able to contract with the Administration.

It resolves drawbacks and improves the efficiency as regards separate management by different subjects IMSERSO: CONTRACTS THE PLACES: open procedure, Contracted company/ies of the procedure execution of the Programme: They sell the places in travel accredited by the IMSERSO AGENCIES AND ONLINE. It manages: hotels, transport, complementary activities, support services, etc

25 AEVAL REPORT A study performed by the State Agency for Evaluation of Public Policies and Service Quality (AEVAL) in 2010 and 2011 stated: That the Tourism and Social Hydrotherapy Programmes can be related to the objectives of active aging. That it contributes to boosting physical activity and the social bonds of the Programme users. That the participants in the Tourism and Social Hydrotherapy Programmes have a better selfperception of their level of health than the general elderly population. The differences further increase as age increase, especially among women.
