3 What is a Leisure Key? The Leisure Key is Stockport Council's discount card for residents who are eligible through circumstances such as age, income or disability; it offers you reduced prices for leisure acɵviɵes, events and cultural aʃracɵons and much, much more. We have now extended the scheme to include serving members of the Armed Forces, including Territorial Army Reservists, and their families. Where can you use your Leisure Key? When you apply, you will need to show : Proof that you live in Stockport the only proof we will accept is a recent Council Tax Bill, Housing Benefit NoƟficaƟon LeƩer or Council Tax Support NoƟficaƟon LeƩer, your full UK driver s licence, a recent Department for Work and Pensions NoƟficaƟon LeƩer or a recent uɵlity bill. A recent passport sized photograph. One of the supporɵng documents showing proof of eligibility as shown on pages 5 and 6. If you wish to include any children aged 10 or under on your family card you must provide proof that you receive Child Benefit or proof of access rights for the children. Please refer to Family Members secɵon on page 7. Please note all applicants, except children under 10 years old (included on a family card only) and people with disabiliɵes, must apply in person. Cards may only be purchased by cash - debit or credit cards will not be accepted. Pick up a Leisure Key from local libraries, Stockport Direct Local Centres and The Tourist InformaƟon Office in the market. Please note that Armed Forces cards can only be bought from Central Library If you do not have all the correct proofs and payment we cannot issue you with a Leisure Key card. 4
5 How do I qualify and how much do they cost? There are four different types of Leisure Key. The following pages tell you more about who is eligible and how much it costs. The proof of eligibility required is shown under each category. All documents must be less than six months old, except if they are only issued annually. Band A Leisure Key This costs just 2.65 for one year and applies to people in the categories listed below. Pension Credits Recent benefit leʃer or bank statements showing payments. Income Support Recent benefit leʃer or bank statement showing payments. Job Seekers Allowance Recent benefit leʃer or bank statement showing payments. Universal Credit Recent benefit leʃer or bank statement showing payments. Housing Benefit Housing Benefit noɵficaɵon leʃer. Council Tax Support Current bill showing reducɵon or Support noɵficaɵon leʃer. Working Tax Credits Award leʃer from HMRC or bank statement showing payments. Child Tax Credit (if household income is 16,105 or below) Award leʃer from HMRC. Children in the care of any Local Authority Children in the care of any local authority/foster carers are enɵtled to Free Leisure Key. LeƩer from the Family Placement Team is required. AdopƟve Children Free Leisure Key for Parents/Guardians for adopɵve children and family children. You will need a leʃer from Social Services or the full adopɵon cerɵficate and proof of Child Benefit if you receive it. Asylum Seekers A leʃer from the Council s Asylum Seeker Team. Training Scheme for Young People Training agreement with Learning Skills Council (Modern ApprenƟceship or Work Based Learning). 5
6 Band B Leisure Key This costs just 6.45 for one year and applies to people in the categories listed below. Age 60 or over Proof that you are 60 or over, for example, bus pass, birth cerɵficate or passport. Long Term Sick Incapacity Benefit or Employment Support Allowance leʃer from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or bank statement showing payments. Persons with disabiliɵes Award leʃer for AƩendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independent Payment, Severe Disablement Allowance, Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit or War Disablement Pension, or bank statement showing payments. Carers Carers Allowance leʃer from DWP, showing enɵtlement to the Carer Premium or bank statement showing payments. Full-Ɵme student 18 and over LeƩer from college (not enrolment card or NUS card) valid at Ɵme of applicaɵon. Student Nurse (including Nursing Diploma and Degree students). LeƩer from college valid at Ɵme of applicaɵon. Band D Armed Forces Leisure Key This costs just 6.15 for a single card for one year. Single Serving person Proof that you are a Stockport resident e.g. your Council Tax bill, recent fuel bill or photo driver s licence. A recent passport size photo. Proof that you are a serving member in the armed forces e.g. a leʃer from your Commanding Officer. Band E Armed Forces Family Leisure Key This costs just for a family card for one year. Family Card for the serving person and / or their partner and dependant children aged up to 18 (inclusive). Proof as for Band D plus proof that you receive Child Benefit or proof of access rights for any children included on your family card. Children must be accompanied by an adult named on the card. 7 Family Members Partners of those in Band A If you provide proof that you are the partner of a Band A card holder, you can buy your own Leisure Key for Children aged 10 or under whose parents are Leisure Key holders Can be named on both their parents/guardians Leisure Key at no extra charge (as long as both parent s qualify). Children aged 11 to 18 (inclusive) whose parents are eligible for a Leisure Key Can buy a Band A Leisure Key Card for Children aged 9 or 10 whose parents/guardians are eligible for a Leisure Key Can do either of the above. Please provide proof that you receive Child Benefit or proof of access rights for any children included on your family card. You also need to bring the child s birth cerɵficate or passport as proof of the child s age. For children aged 9 or over who are applying for a card in their own right, both the parent/guardian and the child must be present. Free Companion Cards If you have a disability, are in receipt of a disability benefit, hold a current Leisure Key card and you require support to use a facility, you are enɵtled to a Companion Card. The Companion Card allows you to take a relaɵve, friend or carer with you and they will also be enɵtled to discounts and, in some venues, free admission. This card is free of charge and can be used by whoever you wish to help you, you do not need to name the companion on the card and they do not need to apply. Please visit or phone or ask a member of staff for further informaɵon about Companion Cards. Renewals You can renew your card up to 30 days before and aōer the expiry date. Please bring your current card with you along with proof of eligibility (see pages 5 and 6 for details) and proof that you live in Stockport. If you are aged 60 or over you only need to bring in proof that you live in Stockport. You will also need a recent photo, although it may be possible to use your exisɵng photograph on your current card. Band A renewal costs 1.40 Band B Renewal costs 3.25 Band D renewal costs 6.15 Band E Renewal costs If you lose or damage your Leisure Key card, it can be replaced but an administraɵon fee of 2.20 will be charged. You will also need to provide proof of residency as detailed on page 4. 7
