The total contribution of $1, excludes the professional liability insurance premium (if the premium is added, the total is $2,612.61) and is the total contribution of a member who practises in a region in which the contribution to the regional bar is $150. ** The professional liability insurance premium is $970 (a $78 decrease compared with the previous year s premium). 4

5 Some achievements in in connection with the Order s strategic plan Redefine the governance structure for greater efficiency and to improve performance in achieving the Order s mission. Order s finances: implementation of the financial vision. New administrative structure: merger of several departments for greater effectiveness and efficiency. Review of committees: number, composition, criteria, mandates. Computer systems: continuation of the planned overhaul. Completion expected in Increase the protection of the public through preventive and deterrent measures. Professional coaching visits for new members. Processing of over 200 accounting reports and 70 issue-oriented visits. All members participated in the mandatory training course on the new Code of ethics. The Info-déonto hotline received 7,000 calls. Automate operations and increase the number of networks for disseminating information and distributing products and services while ensuring uniform and uninterrupted service. Customer service: the Info-Barreau hotline processed over 65,000 calls from the public and from members. The Order s website had over 8.5 million unique visits, and the Barreau s social network accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) had some 30,000 followers. 5

6 Some achievements in in connection with the Order s strategic plan Define a strategy that allows the Barreau du Québec to strengthen the relationship of trust with the public and its members. Report, training, tools and services relating to hourly billing rates and new business models in order to better face the challenges of the legal market s new realities. Panorama project addresses the recruitment, retention and advancement of lawyers from ethnocultural groups within firms and legal departments in Québec. 27 partners are contributing to this project. Enhanced offering of training activities: addition of Webpro-école with some forty products, creation of the large-scale training events Rendez-vous de la formation continue and Journées du Barreau du Québec. Follow-up on significant reports: La justice dans le Grand Nord [Justice in the Far North], Déterminants du stress et de la détresse psychologique chez les avocat(e)s membres du Barreau du Québec [Factors for stress and psychological distress in members of the Barreau du Québec] and the Young Bar of Montreal s Report on the employment situation among young lawyers in Quebec. Cooperate with others in the legal community in order to work together for better access to justice. Change of culture: The Barreau put a great deal of effort into the implementation of the C.C.P. by examining potential solutions in connection with its harmonization. Offer of training activities and tools related to the new Code of Civil Procedure and participatory justice. Define a position plan to increase the Barreau du Québec s leadership within the legal community. Government relations and communications plan. Replies to over 300 media requests. The Bâtonnière of Québec gave over 70 interviews. The Barreau du Québec made 32 legislative and regulatory submissions and sat on six parliamentary committees. Active participation in the Forum québécois sur l accès à la justice civile et familiale [Québec forum on access to justice in civil and family matters] and ADAJ (study and observation of the right to justice). 6
