The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) wishes to promote the service that will give access to a Qualifying Workplace Pension Scheme (QWPS) to enable its members to comply with the Pensions Act Independent Financial Services (UK) Ltd (IFS) is an IFA appointed by the FSB to provide FCA regulated financial services products to its members and has arranged the FSB Pension Scheme for Members (FSB PSfM). FSB Independent Financial Services is a trading style of IFS. IFS Employee Benefits LLP (IFS EB) will provide the service and will be the principle point of contact for the Client. FSB Pension Services is a trading style of IFS EB. In paying their application fee, the Client is contracting solely with IFS EB to provide the Service. Scottish Widows plc. Provision of the Service will normally result in the QWPS being provided by the scheme which is exclusive to Scottish Widows. Q. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ADVICE? A. The FSB PSfM is a self-serve scheme, with no advice on its suitability given by IFS, IFS EB, the FSB or Scottish Widows. We simply provide enough information for your clients to make an informed decision on whether they feel the FSB PSfM is a suitable scheme for their QWPS. Q. CAN I PROVIDE ADVICE ABOUT THE SCHEME? A. Yes, but only if you are authorised by the FCA to do so. You can appraise your clients of the need to comply with the auto enrolment rules, and as part of that they need to choose a QWPS. You can also be factual. It s a scheme set up by the IFAs appointed by the FSB, and uses the bulk purchasing power of the FSB s 200,000 members to get special terms and conditions not normally available to SME s. You are responsible for any advice given. Q. WHAT ARE THOSE SPECIAL TERMS? A. They are all detailed within this document and fully explained in the information pack we will send to your clients. Briefly, it gives them access to a traditional, well known, pension provider with low charges, no need to see an adviser (thereby reducing set up fees to a minimum), and with no minimum contributions or number of employees. They also get help, guidance and support all the way through to their staging date. Q. WHAT IF I WANT TO USE ANOTHER AUTO ENROLMENT SCHEME FOR SOME OF MY CLIENTS? A. You can if you wish. By agreeing to work with FSB Pension Services, you are not restricted into only using the FSB PSfM, but it does give you access to a very attractive solution for you and your clients. Q. WHAT S IN IT FOR ME? A. Your clients will probably come to you for help on auto enrolment first. It is important that you are aware, knowledgeable and can help them with a solution. Most SME s just want the problem taken off their desks if you can help them achieve that, and at a low cost, and provide them with a quality pension scheme then your image with them can only be enhanced. In addition, you keep the clients in house and could possibly charge an additional fee for the administration of the FSB PSfM, especially if you already do their payroll. Q. WILL FSB PENSION SERVICES PAY ME ANY COMMISSION ON SCHEME SET UP? A. No, the fees are set to cover our administration time and designed to offer a low cost solution for SME s. If you do additional work for your clients in helping them to set the scheme up or ongoing administration, and wish to charge them, then that is between you and your client. Q. WHY SCOTTISH WIDOWS? A. They are one of the only traditional providers committed to helping SME s but can only do this commercially via large groups of employers. That is why they have given the FSB special terms. Q. HOW DOES THE SCHEME COMPARE TO OTHER SCHEMES? A. It is very competitive in many areas such as charges, but we leave you to have a look at any other schemes you may want to consider and make your own mind up. Q. WHO S CLIENT IS IT AND WILL YOU MARKET TO THEM AFTERWARDS A. Initially, we will simply progress the setting up of the FSB PSfM. We do not need (or want) to see the client. We agree not to market or cross-sell to your clients in the future. If you wish to work with us in the future providing financial advice to them, on your behalf, then we are happy to forge a relationship with you. Q. CAN YOU MANAGE TRANSFERS FROM OTHER PENSIONS? A.
