2 AWARD This award concerns the renewal of a collective agreement that expired on December 31, The parties were able to agree on a three-year term, commencing on January 1, 2012 and expiring December 31, 2014, and on certain other items, with the balance being referred to us for determination. The Union made the following proposals: a) Annual Wage Increases of 2.5%; b) A Student wage rate to be added to the Collective Agreement at the Programs Start Rate; c) The addition of Family Day to the list of Statutory Holidays; d) An increase of vacation to 5 weeks after 12 years of service; e) The removal of the 2-week restriction on vacations during peak vacation periods; f) An increase to the Vision Care benefit to $200 every 24 months; g) The addition of partial dentures and full dentures to the dental plan; h) An increase to the in-lieu benefit from 60 cents to 75 cents per hour; i) The replacement of the current RRSP plan with the LIUNA Central and Eastern Pension Plan; j) An increase in the uniform allowance from 7 cents to 8 cents per hour; k) An increase in the weekend premium from 15 cents to 20 cents per hour.
3 2 The Employer disagreed with each and every one of these proposals, asking that the status quo ante be maintained. The Employer made no proposals for change of its own. Having regard to the submissions of the parties, the Board hereby awards as the terms of the renewal agreement all of the terms of the prior agreement, together with the agreed upon items, with the following amendments: 1. Effective January 1, 2014, full time employees will move one of their their float days in exchange for Family Day as a fixed holiday, therefore only having two float holidays. 2. Effective January 1, 2014, part time employees will receive Family Day as a fixed holiday, therefore and will remain status quo with two float holidays. 3. Sixty (60) days following the issuance of this award, Vision Care will be increased to $ every 24 months. 4. Effective on or before January 1, 2014, Article will be deleted. 5. Wages: Effective January 1, 2012 Effective December 31, % increase to all classifications 0.25% increase to all classifications For the period January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013, 1% lump sum payment for all hours paid during this period. This will be paid within 30 days from the last full payroll period including December 31, 2013.
4 3 For the period of January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014, $0.15 lump sum payment for all hours paid during this period. This will be paid within 30 days from last full payroll period including December 31, Retroactivity Retroactivity on wages only payable to employees on payroll on the date of the award. Such payment will be made within 6 weeks from the date of the Award. 7. Letter of Understanding: The parties agree to meet in good faith to discuss the possible implementation of the LIUNA Central and Eastern Canada Pension Plan for all employees. 8. Add the Student Classification Rate, Effective January 1, 2012 at $ The Board will remain seized in respect of any and issues of interpretation and implementation of this award, and to correct any inadvertent errors or omissions.
