Winows oumenttion Chnging the monitor resolution For optimum viewing, your monitor resolution shoul e set to 800 x 600 pixels (or greter) n High Color (16 it) (or greter). To set the monitor resolution: 1 Clik the Winows Strt, Settings n then Control Pnel. 2 Doule-lik the Disply ion. 3 From the Disply Properties ilog ox, lik the Settings t. 4 In the Desktop re setion, rg the sliing r so tht the pixel mount is set to 800 y 600 pixels. (You n set it to higher resolution if you wish.) 5 In the Color plette setion, selet High olor (16 it). 6 Clik OK. At the prompt, whih informs you tht your settings will e juste, lik OK gin. 14 Instlltion Winows Upte isk The Winows Upte isk will ensure tht your omputer system is ple of running ll the fetures of the online Help. To upte your softwre: 1 Turn on your omputer. If you re using Winows NT, log on s n Aministrtor or s user with Aministrtor privileges. 2 Insert the Winows Upte isk into the CD rive. 3 From the Winows Strt menu, hoose Run. The Run ilog ox will e isplye. 4 Clik Browse n serh for your CD rive using the Browse ilog ox. 5 Selet the file WinUpte.exe from the root iretory of the CD rive. Clik Open n then lik OK from the Run ilog ox to strt the instlltion. 6 Follow the prompts on the sreen to instll the Winows Upte isk. Ensure tht you re NOT running ny Cry WinUV softwre when you egin instlltion of the Cry Elipse softwre. 15 Instlltion 2 Clik Instll Cry Elipse Softwre from the isplye ilog ox. 3 Follow the instrutions on the sreen. During instlltion, you will e ske to speify, mongst other things, the rive on whih to instll the softwre. When the instlltion is omplete you shoul hve Cry Elipse progrm group on the esktop ontining numer of ions. The instlltion lso ples Cry Elipse foler in the Strt > Progrms menu. If you re using Winows NT n i not hve Aministrtor privileges, the instlltion will fil. To suessfully omplete the instlltion, log on gin s n Aministrtor n strt the instlltion proess gin. 4 Remove the Cry Elipse Softwre isk from the CD rive n insert the Cry Elipse Help isk, s prompte. You will nee to insert the Cry Elipse Help isk into the CD rive eh time you wnt to view vieos inlue in the Help. 5 After suessful instlltion of the softwre, shut own the omputer n instll either the Agilent IEEE ISA r into the ISA r slot, or the Ntionl Instruments PCI-GPIB r into the PCI slot. GPIB river The GPIB river must e mnully instlle epening on the type of GPIB r (tht is, ISA or PCI) n the operting system. To etermine whether you hve n ISA or PCI r, tke look t the r. ISA for Winows 98 1 Insert the Cry Elipse Softwre isk into the CD rive. From the ilog ox isplye t strtup, lik the Exit utton. 2 From the Winows Strt menu, point to Settings n hoose Control Pnel. 3 In the Control Pnel winow, oule-lik the A New Hrwre ion. The A New Hrwre Wizr is isplye. 4 Clik Next to egin the hrwre instlltion proess. 5 Clik Next gin. 6 Selet No, I wnt to selet the hrwre from list n then lik Next. 7 From the Hrwre types list, selet Other evies n then lik Next. 8 Clik the Hve Disk utton. 9 Enter your CD rive letter (for exmple, D ) n lik OK. Follow the instrutions on the sreen to omplete the proess. 10 When you re prompte to restrt the omputer, lik Yes. One you hve restrte the omputer, you shoul hek tht there re no onflits with other evies. However, it must e re-onfigure in orer to run the Elipse. 1 After instlling the PCI GPIB Cr, restrt the omputer n log on s n Aministrtor or s user with Aministrtor privileges to suessfully instll the softwre. 2 From the Winows Strt menu, point to Settings n hoose Control Pnel. 3 In the Control Pnel winow, oule-lik the GPIB ion. The GPIB Configurtion Utility is isplye. 4 From the list of ll the GPIB ors n evie nmes, selet GPIB0. 5 Clik the Bor Type utton n from the list tht is isplye, selet PCI-GPIB. Clik OK. 6 Clik the Configure utton to isply the PCI-GPIB Configurtion ilog ox. 7 In the Seril Numer rop-own list, selet the seril numer for the Elipse or if more thn one PCI r is instlle. Then lik OK. 8 From the GPIB Configurtion ilog ox, lik OK to sve your hnges n exit the utility. 18 Instlltion Strting the softwre To strt the Cry Elipse softwre lik the Strt > Progrms > Cry Elipse n then selet the esire pplition. After the initil Cry Elipse flsh sreen ppers, the selete pplition will open (refer to Chpter 3 for informtion on the ville pplitions). Re-instlling To re-instll the Cry Elipse softwre: 1 Close ll Winows pplitions. 2 Clik Strt > Control Pnel. 3 In the Control Pnel winow, oule-lik the A/Remove Progrms ion. The A/Remove Progrms Properties ilog ox will e isplye. 4 Choose Elipse from the list n then lik the A/Remove utton. 5 Follow the prompts to uninstll the softwre. Selet No to ll when ske to remove shre files. 6 Insert the Cry Elipse Softwre isk into the CD rive n hoose Instll Softwre from the isplye winow. 7 Follow the instrutions to omplete the instlltion. 8 You must restrt your omputer efore running the softwre. The fetures of the pplition inlue: Enles you to fin the men of multiple reings of the smple solution. Enles you to fin the men of multiple smple liquots of the smple solution. For your Cry Elipse instrument to operte t pek performne, you must ensure tht the lmps re orretly ligne in the optil pth. Conentrtion The Conentrtion pplition is use to etermine the onentrtion of n soring smple, using up to 30-point lirtion for quntittive nlysis. The pplition llows you to selet from severl urve fit types for the lirtion: liner, iret liner n qurti. Bse on the fit type selete, it then lultes the oeffiients of the fit eqution n the orreltion oeffiient n prints these in the Report re. The onentrtion vlues of smples re then otine y mesuring eh smple ginst the lirte fit eqution. The result otine is the onentrtion of the smple n n e viewe in the Report re. GLP Aministrtion The GLP Aministrtion pplition is use to protet the system from unuthorize use, enling pplition-speifi privileges to e turne on or off y the system ministrtor. If this pplition is opertionl, users will nee to e registere, hve user nme n vli psswor efore they n ess the vrious privileges. Kinetis The Kinetis pplition is use to mesure the inrese or erese in emission intensity s funtion of time. From this you n otin n intensity versus time plot.
