Website: enbridgeus.com As a leading provider of energy transportation services, Enbridge Energy Partners, L.P., owns and operates about 12,000 miles of natural gas and natural gas liquids pipelines in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. The partnership s East Texas system is comprised of approximately 3,800 miles of natural gas gathering and transportation pipelines, nine natural gas treating plants and seven natural gas processing plants, including three hydrocarbon dewpoint (HCDP) plants. We also operate natural gas gathering systems in North Texas and the Texas Panhandle. Enbridge is committed to transporting natural gas in a reliable, safe and economical manner, and builds pipeline safety into every step of pipeline construction, operation and maintenance. The partnership meets, and in many cases exceeds, government environmental regulations as well as industry standards and guidelines related to pipeline safety and environmental protection. We have an emergency response plan in place to work promptly and effectively with local first responders to protect the safety of the public and the environment. In the unlikely event of a leak, Enbridge will respond swiftly to protect the public; conduct a prompt, safe and thorough repair in close cooperation with regulatory authorities; and mitigate environmental and property impacts. Should a pipeline emergency occur, contact Enbridge immediately at the number listed on a right-of-way marker or in this guide so we can stop the flow of gas and then allow any fire that may be present to burn out. Keep the surrounding area cool with water spray and prevent further ignition of combustible material. In the event of a pipeline emergency involving natural gas liquids, evacuate all unnecessary personnel and use an approved self-contained breathing apparatus. Keep surrounding surfaces, including exposed equipment and containers, cool with a water fog or spray. PROTECTING PEOPLE, PROPERTY AND THE ENVIRONMENT We take many preventative measures to promote safe, reliable operations of our crude oil pipelines and related facilities, including: High-quality pipeline material and anticorrosion coatings Cathodic protection (a low-level electrical charge) to inhibit corrosion of underground pipelines Pressure testing of new and existing pipelines with water Sophisticated tools called smart pigs to locate abnormalities in the pipeline Preventative maintenance programs Around-the-clock surveillance of major transmission pipeline operations Frequent aerial and periodic ground surveys of the right-of-way CALL 811 BEFORE YOU DIG Digging without first calling 811 to locate buried utilities, including underground pipelines, can have devastating consequences or disrupt basic utility services to entire neighborhoods. Accidental pipeline strikes caused while digging in the right-of-way accounts for a major source of pipeline damage and leaks. One-Call notification can now be completed locally in most areas of the country by dialing 811. While some governmental organizations may be exempt from One- Call legal provisions, Enbridge encourages anyone planning a digging project to first call 811. PIPELINE LOCATION The general location of an Enbridge pipeline can be determined by identifying the pipeline markers at road crossings and other points along the route. The pipeline route follows a right-of-way, which enables Enbridge workers to gain access to the pipeline for inspection, maintenance, testing or in an emergency. Our pipeline markers are located at varying intervals along the right-ofway and typically on both sides of road crossings. All pipeline markers provide a telephone number for reporting pipeline emergencies and indicate the product being transported in that pipeline. You can also find the general location of pipelines in your area through the U.S. Department of Transportation s National Pipeline Mapping System.
